MISSION SQUASH RECRUITS LOW-INCOME STUDENTS FROM HARRIS COUNTY BEGINNING IN 6TH GRADE AND IMMERSES THEM IN INTENSIVE, YEAR-ROUND ACADEMIC TUTORING, INTERVENTION, ENRICHMENT, COLLEGE ACCESS PROGRAMMING, AND MENTORING. OUR HOLISTIC APPROACH TO YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTERS SOUND ACADEMICS, ACCESS, AND WELLNESS THROUGH RIGOROUS PROGRAMMING THAT EXPOSES THEM TO NETWORKS OF OPPORTUNITY. ENROLLED STUDENTS COMPLETE A MINIMUM OF 200 HOURS A YEAR OF HOLISTIC PROGRAMMING DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR AND FOR 20 DAYS IN THE SUMMER. COLLECTIVELY, OUR PROGRAMS REFLECT THE BEST PRACTICES AND LATEST RESEARCH OUTCOMES FOR ACADEMIC, COLLEGE, AND PROFESSIONAL READINESS. FULL-TIME STAFF AND TRAINED VOLUNTEERS DELIVER RICH, INDIVIDUALIZED ACADEMIC, HIGH SCHOOL ACCESS, COLLEGE ACCESS, AND 21ST CENTURY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING. OUR FOCUS ON CREATING LONG-TERM, HOLISTIC SUCCESS FOR SCHOLARS ALSO ADDRESSES SOCIO-EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL WELLNESS NEEDS. THUS, SCHOLARS IN OUR PROGRAM ALSO RECEIVE A MINIMUM OF 100 HOURS IN SOCIO-EMOTIONAL LEARNING, NUTRITION, AND PHYSICAL FITNESS PROGRAMMING. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 51 SCHOLARS ENROLLED IN OUR PROGRAM ACROSS 7 GRADE LEVELS, AS WELL AS TWO SCHOLARS IN COLLEGE.
