IN 2022, WE BUILD ON OUR WORK AND PLANNING FROM 2021. WE EXPANDED OUR REACH THROUGH MONTHLY TOURS OF WILLOWTAIL OPEN TO THE PUBLIC WITH NO CHARGE. WE OFTEN HAD EXPERTS AT THAT TIME TO DISCUSS DIFFERENT DETAILS ABOUT GARDENING.WE ACCEPTED RESIDENTS AND WORKED WITH THEM TO PRESENT EXCITING PROGRAMS TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, AT NO CHARGE. THE RESIDENTS ARE ALWAYS ON SCHOLARSHIP, WHICH WE FUND WITH DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS AND FOUNDATIONS, PLUS THE PAID CABIN RENTAL, WHICH WE USE AS EARNED INCOME FOR OUR TOTAL NONPROFIT.WE CONTINUED TO DO WORKSHOPS ON OUR THEME OF CROSS CULTURAL, CROSS GENERATIONAL MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY.WE CURATED SEVERAL SHOWS OF ARTIST RESIDENT WORKS AND READINGS OF THEIR POEMS AT CORTEZ CULTURAL CENTER AND WILLOWTAIL. IT WAS MET WITH GREAT ENTHUSIASM BY THE COMMUNITY.WE HELD A FULL LENGTH ARTS [POETRY AND VISUAL ART] IT WAS A FULL CROSS CULTURAL- CROSS GENERATIONAL THEM, WITH RESIDENTS HERE WITH TWO FACILITATORS FOR 3 DAYS.WE AGAIN HOSTED BLOSSOM JOHNSON, A GIFTED NAVAJO PLAYWRIGHT, WHO THE COMMUNITY LOVED WHEN WE HAD HER BEFORE. SHE WROTE ANOTHER PLAY AND HAD A LARGE READING AT WILLOWTAIL WITH SEVERAL NAVAJO FRIENDS.WE BEGAN A SPECIAL PROGRAM TO LAUNCH IN 2023 LOOKING INTO THE ARTS AND ENVIRONMENTS INFLUENCE ON OLDER PEOPLE. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD THIS GROUP OF PEOPLE IN HIGH NUMBERS, WE BEGAN TO DESIGN A PROGRAM DIRECTED, SPECIFICALLY, TO THEM. WE ALSO MADE CONTACT WITH SOME OF THE FOUNDATIONS WHICH FUND THIS EFFORT.THE OTHER GROUP WHICH IS UNDERREPRESENTED IN THIS AREA IS YOUTH. WE BEGAN TO PLAN WAYS TO SET UP OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEM TO VISIT AND STAY AT WILLOWTAIL IN DIFFERENT CAPACITIES.SINCE MANY OF THESE POWERFUL PROGRAMS, WHICH WERE PLANNED AND LAID OUT IN 2022, BUT ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN 2023, I WILL WRITE ABOUT THEM FOR OUR 2023 TAX REPORT.
