OUR ADOPTION PROCESS CONSIST OF PROCESSING THE ADOPTERS SUBMITTED ONLINE APPLICATION FOR AN ANIMAL OR PREQUALIFYING WHICH MAY CONSIST OF VET CHECKS, LANDLORD CHECKS, HOME CHECKS, AND PERSONAL INTERVIEWS. ONCE APROVED THE ANIMAL IS ADOPTED AND AN ADOPTION CONTRACT IS SIGNED. HOME CHECKS AND DELIVERY OF ADOPTED PETS CONTINUED WITH THE UTMOST PRECAUTIONS AND ADHEARRANCE TO COVAD19 PROTOCALLS. HOME CHECKS MAY BE DONE VIRTUALLY AS WELL. WE EDUCATE CLIENTS AND THE PUBLIC ON CAT AND DOG CARE AND HANDLING AS WELL AS THE BENIFIT OF ADOPTING A SENIOR RESCUED PET. OUR FULL LIFE CYCLE PROCESS OF THE ANIMAL CONSISTS OF AN INTAKE PROCESS WHERE WE ADDRESS THE PETS MEDICAL NEEDS, FACILITATE REQUIRED HEALTH CARE, BEHAVIORAL, AND GROOMING NEEDS. WE THEN MAKE THEM AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC VIA INTERNET, ADOPTION EVENTS, OR PERSONAL VISITS TO THE ADOPTERS HOME OR POTENTIAL ADOPTERS MAY VISIT FOSTER HOMES OR HEAD QUARTERS. IF THE ANIMAL DOES NOT GET ADOPTED THEY STAY IN OUR CARE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THEIR LIFE. IN 2023 OUR MEDICAL EXPENSES ALONE WERE OVER 77000 DOLLARS. AT THE BEGINING OF 2023 WE HAD 59 ANIMALS IN FOSTER HOMES. WE HAD A TOTAL OF 316 NEW INTAKES INTO OUR ORGANIZATION AND WE HAD 305 ADOPTIONS. 12 SENIOR PETS DIED OR EUTHANIZED FOR HEALTH REASONS. PAWS FOR SENIORS ONLY HAS ONE PROGRAM SERVICE WHICH CONSISTS OF RESCUING UNFORTUMATE ANIMALS THAT FOR MANY REASONS AND MOST OFTEN LOSE THE ONLY HOME THEY EVER KNEW. MOST OF THE PETS ARE SENIOR CATS AND DOGS AND 80% OF OUR HUMAN CLIENTS ARE SENIOR CITIZENS. PAWS FOR SENIORS RELY SOLELY ON DONATIONS TO SUPPORT OUR MISSION. WE ALSO CHARGE AN ADOPTION FEE WHICH RARELY COVERS THE COST THAT GOES INTO EACH OF THE ANIMALS. BY THE GOOD GRACE OF OUR FOLLOWERS AND THE COMMUNITY WE ARE ABLE TO SUSTAIN OUR ORGANIZATION AND CONTINUE TO GIVE EACH ANIMAL A HIGH QUALITY OF MEDICAL CARE AND A HIGH QUALITY DIET. AS STATED PREVIOUSLY WE ONLY HAVE ONE PROGRAM AND ALL OUR EXPENSES ARE DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH OUR RESCUE MISSION. THE PROGRAM SERVICE EXPENSES BELOW DOES NOT INCLUDE PAWS FOR SENIORS CORPORATE AND VEHICLE INSURANCE OR DEPRECIATION ON ASSETS OR VOLUNTEER GIFT AND AWARDS EXPENSE.
