TUCSON'S JANUARY 8TH MEMORIAL FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED TO DEVELOP A MEMORIAL TO REMEMBER THE TRAGIC SHOOTING THAT OCCURRED AT CONGRESSWOMAN GIFFORDS' "CONGRESS ON YOUR CORNER" EVENT IN TUCSON, ARIZONA ON JANUARY 8, 2011. THE COMPLETED MEMORIAL WILL HONOR THOSE WHO WERE KILLED OR INJURED THAT DAY, COMMEMORATE THE EXTRAORDINARY COMMUNITY RESPONSE TO THE TRAGEDY, AND ASSURE THAT FUTURE GENERATIONS UNDERSTAND THE EVENTS THAT UNFOLDED AND THE SIGNIFICANT ROLE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS THAT WAS AT THE HEART OF THAT DAY'S "CONGRESS ON YOUR CORNER".

THE TUCSON'S JANUARY 8TH FOUNDATION HAS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED OUR MISSION OF BUILDING A MEMORIAL TO HONOR THE VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF THE JANUARY 8 SHOOTING IN TUCSON IN 2011. THE BOARD VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO DISBAND IN FEBRUARY 2023. THE BOARD ALSO UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO SEND A FINAL GRANT TO PIMA COUNTY FOR CONTINUED ADMINISTRATION OF THE MEMORIAL WITH THE REMAINING ASSETS SENT TO THE JEWISH COMMUNITY FOUNDATION 501(3)(C).
