EACH YEAR ORHF HELPS MORE THAN 100 VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE D.C. METRO AREA WHO ARE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. EVERY CLIENT IS LITERALLY HOMELESS (LIVING IN A SHELTER, CAR, OR ON THE STREET), AND WE ARE WORKING TO CLEAR THE BARRIERS TO GETTING THEM INTO HOMES. WE DO THIS BY PAYING FOR APPLICATION FEES AND SECURITY DEPOSITS, COVERING TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM LOOKING AT APARTMENTS, AND HELPING OUT WITH UTILITY BILLS. WE WORK WITH LANDLORDS AND RENTAL AGENCIES THROUGHOUT THE METRO D.C. AREA TO FIND SUITABLE PLACES FOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND PAY THEIR RENT FOR A PERIOD OF TIME TO PROVIDE A STABLE HOUSING ENVIROMENT. WE PARTNER WITH ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE BASIC HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, PROVIDE HEALTH AND DENTAL CARE, AND ASSIST OUR VETERANS IN THE SEARCH FOR STEADY INCOME.
