SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES - THE SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES PROGRAMS BUILDS AND STRENGTHENS RURAL ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY THAT IS SUSTAINABLE, RESILIENT AND CLIMATE AWARE. SPECIFICALLY, WE IDENTIFY POLICIES THAT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE VALUE AMONG RURAL RESOURCES, RURAL ECONOMIES AND URBAN MARKETS, AND THEN WORK TO BRING THOSE OPPORTUNITIES DOWN TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES. THIS INCLUDES THE HELDERBERG BREWSHED, AN INTEGRATED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM CONSISTING OF A MODEL FARM BREWERY; A FARM-TO-GLASS CLASSROOM AND A FARM-TO-GLASS INCUBATOR EACH DESIGNED TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND BUSINESS PLANNING SUPPRT TO FARMERS, BREWERS, AND DISTILLERS AND TO EMPHASIZE THEIR INTERDEPENDENCY WITH THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH THEY OPERATE.


THE LOGAN NONFICTION PROGRAM - THE CAREY INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL GOOD BELIEVES THAT AN INFORMED, EDUCATED, AND ENGAGED CITIZENRY IS ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTIONING OF THE DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY. THE LOGAN NONFICTION PROGRAM AT THE CAREY INSTITUTE SUPPORTS THIS BELIEF BY ADVANCING DEEPLY REPORTED, LONGFORM NONFICTION ABOUT THE MOST PRESSING ISSUES OF THE DAY AND THEN HELPING TO DISSEMINATE IT ON A VARIETY OF MEDIA PLATFORMS TO THE WIDEST POSSIBLE AUDIENCE. THE LOGAN NONFICTION PROGRAM SEEKS TO ADDRESS THE PUBLIC'S NEED FOR LONGFORM NONFICTION TO INFORM THE POLICY DEBATE ESSENTIAL TO DEMOCRACY.


EDUCATION - THE CAREY INSTITUTE'S CENTER FOR LEARNING IN PRACTICE (CLIP) MISSION IS TO IMPROVE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING IN AND ACROSS CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH PROGRAMMING, RESEARCH, AND SERVICES, PARTICULARLY IN THE EDUCATION SECTOR. CLIP'S THE REFUGEE EDUCATOR ACADEMY STRIVES TO INCREASE THE NUMBER AND ACCELERATE THE PREPARATION OF QUALIFIED REFUGEE EDUCATORS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS IN THE UNITED STATES AND AROUND THE WORLD WITH THE GOAL OF REACHING 10,000 TEACHERS/SERVICE PROVIDERS BY 2022. THE ACADEMY WILL PROVIDE AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM THAT INCLUDES COURSES, CERTIFICATIONS, PRACTICE COMMUNITIES, AND A GENERAL ONLINE SUPPORT SYSTEM MARKED BY EXCELLENT FACILITATION AND HIGH-CONTACT AND STRONG RELATIONSHIPS AMONG PARTICIPANTS.
