IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC, CARE2 FUND AT USLI INC ENTERED INTO A PARTNERSHIP WITH 12TH STREET CATERING TO PROVIDE FREE MEALS TO PEOPLE IMPACTED BY THE CRISIS. THE CARE2 FUND AT USLI INC CONTRIBUTED $315,000 TO PROVIDE 86,260 FREE BOXED MEALS TO FRONT LINE HEALTHCARE WORKERS AT PHILADELPHIA AREA HOSPITALS, AND $780,000 TO PROVIDE 152,790 BOXED MEALS FREE OF CHARGE DISTRIBUTED TO UNDER-SERVED FAMILIES IN PHILADELPHIA BY URBAN CREATORS, A 501(C)3 URBAN FARM.
DONATIONS OF FUNDS RAISED FROM USLI EMPLOYEES, CLIENTS AND CUSTOMERS FOR DISASTER RELIEF AND IN SUPPORT OF CHARITABLE CAUSES INCLUDING BREAST CANCER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH; AUTISM EDUCATION AND RESEARCH; SUPPORT FOR UNDER-SERVED AND IN-NEED INDIVIDUALS; MALARIA PREVENTION; AND CLEAN DRINKING WATER FOR HAITIANS.
THE CARE2 FUND AT USLI INC HAS ENTERED INTO A PARTNERSHIP WITH URBAN CREATORS, A 501(C)3 URBAN FARM IN PHILADELPHIA WORKING TO FEED AND EDUCATE UNDER-SERVED FAMILIES. $141,375 WAS CONTRIBUTED TO SUPPORT STAFF SALARIES, AND $9,577 WAS CONTRIBUTED TOWARD THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW FACILITIES AT THE FARM.
DONATIONS TO 74 CAUSES SUGGESTED BY MEMBERS OF THE USLI COMMUNITY, RANGING FROM MEDICAL SUPPORT FOR CRITICALLY ILL CHILDREN TO SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS AND TEAMS PARTICIPATING IN FUNDRAISING EVENTS TO SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITY AND OUTREACH ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS ANIMAL SHELTERS, COUNSELING CENTERS, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CENTERS, AND FEEDING PROGRAMS. ALL DONATIONS RANGE FROM $250 TO $1,000 PER CAUSE. TWO OF THE CAUSES WERE SPECIFIC ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS: ONE TO ASSIST A MEDICAL PATIENT WITH HIS MEDICAL OR OTHER EXPENSES, AND ONE TO A LOCAL BAKERY TO PROVIDE FOOD TO AT-NEED FAMILIES.
