WORKSHOPS:WE OFFERED A VARIETY OF DRAWING, DESIGN, PRINTMAKING, AND BOOKS ARTS WORKSHOPS TO ARTIST OF ALL BACKGROUND AND SKILL LEVELS. CLASSES WERE TAUGHT BY LOCAL AND VISITING ARTIST. SOME PRINTMAKING CLASSES WERE GEARED SPECIFICALLY TO YOUTH (9-17). DURING 2017, WE PROVIDED 40 ONE-TIME WORKSHOPS AND 44 CLASS SERIES/COURSES.EXHIBITS:IN 2017, WE PRESENTED NINE IN-HOUSE EXHIBITS AND ONE TRAVELING EXHIBIT FOCUSED ON A WIDE VARIETY OF CONTEMPORARY AND HISTORICAL WORK. SOME EXHIBITS ARE JURIED FROM LOCAL, NATIONAL, OR INTERNATIONAL CALLS, OTHERS ARE THESIS-LEVEL EXHIBITS BY A6 STUDIO MEMBERS. HISTORICAL EXHIBITS ARE GENERALLY CURATED FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION. BEND ART CENTER (BAC) OFFERS ART TALKS, EXHIBIT TOURS, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AROUND SPECIFIC EXHIBITS TO PROVIDE CONTEXT AND DEEPER INSIGHT TO DESIGN ELEMENTS AND THEMES. EXHIBIT ADMISSION IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC.PROGRAMS IN SCHOOLS:OUR SCHOOL PROGRAM TAKES PLACE BOTH AT BAC WITH OUR "EXHIBIT + STUDIO" PROGRAM AND IN THE SCHOOLS THROUGH "ARTIST IN SCHOOLS" PROGRAM. OUR "EXHIBIT + STUDIO" PROGRAM INTRODUCES STUDENTS TO SPECIAL EXHIBITS WITH A STRONG LINK TO HISTORY, MATH, SCIENCE, OR CREATIVE WRITING. AFTER A GUIDED EXHIBIT TOUR, STUDENTS THEN DEEPEN THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF ART THROUGH SPECIALLY-DESIGNED CREATIVE ACTIVITIES IN THE PRINT STUDIO. THE "ARTIST AND RESIDENCY" PROGRAM, IS TAILORED TO SPECIFIC SCHOOLS AND GENERALLY CONNECT TO CURRENT CLASSROOM SUBJECTS, SUPPORTING STATE EDUCATION STANDARDS. THIS PROGRAM EXPANDS STUDENT'S CREATIVE EXPRESSION AND ARTISTIC SKILLS BY TEACHING YOUTH A VARIETY OF ART MAKING - OFTEN WITH A PRINTMAKING FOCUS THAT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT A PRINTING PRESS.THIS YEAR WE INCREASED OUR PRESENCE IN SCHOOL BY TRAVELING OUR "EXHIBIT + STUDIO" OUT TO THE SCHOOLS IN AN EFFORT TO BETTER SERVE THE OUTLYING COMMUNITY WITH A FOCUS ON GREATER EQUITY AND ACCESS TO ARTS EDUCATION IN OUR REGION. BRINGING THE EXHIBITION AND ART PROJECTS TO SCHOOLS AT A FREE OR REDUCED RATE FOR SCHOOLS THAT COULD NOT AFFORD THE PROGRAM OR THE BUS TO GET TO US. BAC SERVED 1,873 STUDENTS IN THREE COUNTIES THIS YEAR THROUGH OUR K-12 PROGRAMS!CHEERS TO ART! LECTURE SERIES:BAC OFFERS A ART HISTORY LECTURE SERIES CALL CHEERS TO ART! DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. WE HAD EIGHT LECTURES TOTAL IN 2017. THIS POPULAR LECTURE SERIES COMBINES "ART APPRECIATION WITH A LITTLE LIBATION", EACH MONTH'S PROGRAM EXPLORERS A MAJOR ARTIST OR MOVEMENT AND OFFERS WINE TASTING FROM A SPECIFIC REGION. EVERY THIRD WEDNESDAY, LORNA CAHALL LEADS A LIVELY SLIDE PRESENTATION, OCCASIONALLY BRINGING IN MUSIC, LITERATURE, OR THEATER AND A LOT OF HISTORY INTO THE MIX TO BUILD A RICHER UNDERSTANDING OF THE ART.PRIVATE LESSIONS:BAC OFFERED PRIVATE LESSONS IN THE A6 PRINT STUDIO TO LOCAL ARTISTS SEEKING INSTRUCTION IN SPECIFIC PRINTMAKING TECHNIQUES. BAC ALSO OFFERED ONE-ON-ONE CRITIQUES WITH A6 STUDIO ARTISIT MEMBERS AND OUR MASTER PRINTER. BAC ALSO OFFERS A STUDIO ORIENTATION LESSON FOR NEW ARTISIT MEMBERS.
