THE REDBIRD FMX: THE SIMULATOR FEATURED AT THE SFEC IS THE REDBIRD FMX. IT IS A FULL-MOTION, STATE-OF-THE-ART TRAINING DEVICE AND IS LOCATED WITHIN THE CLASSROOM BUILDING. IT ALLOWS STUDENT PILOTS TO OBTAIN THEIR LICENSE IN A MORE TIMELY, COST-EFFECTIVE MANNER WHILE ALSO PROVIDING AN AVENUE FOR ESTABLISHED PILOTS TO STAY PROFICIENT AND KEEP THEIR SKILLS FRESH. THE FLIGHT SIMULATOR PROVIDES PILOTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRACTICE MANEUVERS AND TRAIN FOR SITUATIONS THAT SIMPLY CANNOT BE REPLICATED DURING ACTUAL FLIGHT, ALLOWING THEM TO BE BETTER PREPARED IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.
