FAMILY SERVICES: FAMILY SERVICES INCLUDES EXTENDED CASEWORK FOR REFUGEE FAMILIES, INCLUDING HELP WITH SCHOOL ENROLLMENT, IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES, EMPLOYMENT SERVICES, ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE, HOUSING, AND FOOD, APARTMENT FURNISHING, COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND CONNECTIONS, AND OTHER EDUCATION INCLUDING CITIZENSHIP AND LIFE SKILLS SEMINARS. WE ALSO PROVIDE OTHER OUTREACHES AND EVENTS ALONG WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS SUCH AS VACCINE CLINICS, SCHOOL ENROLLMENT EVENTS, DENTAL CLINICS, AND CHRISTMAS TOY DRIVES.
SUMMER READING PROGRAM: FOR THE NATIONS' SUMMER READING PROGRAM SERVED ABOUT 450 ELEMENTARY CHILDREN IN SMALL GROUPS OF LESS THAN 20 STUDENTS PER GROUP FOR 8 WEEKS JUNE- AUGUST 2023. THE SUMMER READING PROGRAM INCLUDES ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING, READING, MATH, ART, CHRISTIAN BIBLE TEACHING, AND OTHER EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES SUCH AS ART, TAEKWONDO, DANCE, MUSIC, CODING, SWIM LESSONS, AND NEEDLEPOINT. DAILY BREAKFAST AND LUNCH ARE ALSO PROVIDED FOR CHILDREN IN NEED. ADDITIONALLY, 10 REFUGEE HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS WERE EMPLOYED AS INTERNS OVER THE SUMMER TO HELP RUN THE PROGRAM.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERACY & GED CLASSES: FTN PROVIDES FREE, QUALITY ENGLISH & LITERACY CLASSES AS WELL AS A GED CLASS, WHICH ALL INCLUDE A CHRISTIAN GOSPEL MESSAGE. THESE CLASSES ARE OFFERED TWICE DAILY (M-F) AND SERVE 450 REFUGEES FROM MORE THAN 20 COUNTRIES FROM AFRICA, ASIA, AND THE MIDDLE EAST. CLASSES HAVE EXCELLENT TEACHERS AND CURRICULUM FOR ENGLISH, LITERACY AND BIBLE TEACHING, WHICH IS NOTED BY STUDENT PROGRESS. STUDENT ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN THE CLASSES.
