TO ANNUALLY REKINDLE ON 9/11 THE REMARKABLE SPIRIT OF UNITY AND SERVICE THAT EXISTED IN OUR NATION IN THE DAYS FOLLOWING THE ATTACKS. WE HONOR IN THIS FITTING WAY THE LIVES OF THE THOUSANDS WHO WERE KILLED AND INJURED ON 9/11, AND PAY TRIBUTE TO THE MANY WHO ROSE TO SERVICE IN RESPONSE TO THE 9/11 TRAGEDY INCLUDING THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN IN OUR MILITARY.

9/11 DAY BEGAN THE SEPTEMBER 11 NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND REMEMBRANCE IN 2002 TO REKINDLE THE REMARKABLE SPIRIT OF UNITY AND SERVICE THAT AROSE IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE 9/11 TRAGEDY. THE OBSERVANCE IS NOW THE NATION'S LARGEST ANNUAL DAY OF CHARITABLE ENGAGEMENT, WITH TENS OF MILLIONS OF AMERICANS PARTICIPATING EACH SEPTEMBER. THIS YEAR, OVER 20,000 MEAL PACK VOLUNTEERS, IN 18 CITIES ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, HONORED THOSE LOST, INJURED AND SICKENED FROM THE ATTACKS, AS WELL AS THOSE WHO ROSE IN SERVICE AFTER THE TRAGEDY, BY PACKING NUTRITIOUS, NON-PERISHABLE MEALS FOR FAMILIES IN NEED. TOGETHER, WE PROVIDED MORE THAN 6.7 MILLION HEALTHY, NON-PERISHABLE MEALS TO LOCAL FOOD BANKS IN NEW YORK CITY, ATLANTA, BOSTON, CINCINNATI, CHICAGO, CLEVELAND, COLUMBUS, DALLAS, DENVER, HOUSTON, LOS ANGELES, MINNEAPOLIS, NASHVILLE, PHILADELPHIA, PHOENIX, ST. LOUIS, TAMPA, AND WASHINGTON, D.C. FOR FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS FACING FOOD INSECURITY IN THESE COMMUNITIES.9.11 DAY WILL EXPAND THROUGH OUT MORE CITIES NATIONWIDE LEADING UP TO THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF SEPTEMBER 11TH IN 2026.
