POLICY DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATIONTHE CLIMATE CENTER WORKED THIS YEAR TO BUILD THE FOUNDATION OF A CLEANER, MORE DISTRIBUTED AND RESILIENT ENERGY SYSTEM THAT CAN BETTER SUPPORT CALIFORNIA COMMUNITIES, ESPECIALLY THE MOST VULNERABLE, AS THEY ARE CONFRONTED WITH INCREASING PLANNED AND UNPLANNED ELECTRIC GRID DISRUPTIONS. WE ALSO LAUNCHED EFFORTS TO ESTABLISH AN AMBITIOUS TARGET AND SECURE STATE SUPPORT FOR SCALING UP NATURAL CARBON SEQUESTRATION ON NATURAL AND WORKING LANDS TO REMOVE PAST CLIMATE POLLUTION. PUBLIC OUTREACH & COMMUNICATIONSINCE LAST JULY, THE CLIMATE CENTER COMPLETED SEVERAL POLICY WHITE PAPERS INCLUDING ONE ON NATURAL CARBON SEQUESTRATION AS WELL AS ONE ON CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE. WE PUBLISHED 8 OP-EDS IN KEY STATE NEWSPAPERS AND REACHED THOUSANDS OF CLIMATE ACTIVISTS THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA. WE ALSO PRODUCED 11 WEBINARS ON CLIMATE SOLUTION RELATED TOPICS, INCLUDING A WEBINAR SERIES CALLED INVESTING IN CLIMATE ACTION FOR JOBS, HEALTH, AND EQUITY. WE HAD 4132 TOTAL REGISTRANTS ON ALL OF OUR WEBINARS. WE HAVE ALSO GIVEN NUMEROUS PRESENTATIONS ON CLIMATE-SAFE CALIFORNIA TO VARIOUS COMMUNITY, LOCAL ELECTED BODIES AND ADVOCACY GROUPS AROUND THE STATE.(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)
CLIMATE-SAFE CALIFORNIA: MOBILIZING & COALITION BUILDINGWE WORKED TO STRENGTHEN LOCAL AND REGIONAL PARTNERSHIPS, PRIORITIZING ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE AND LABOR ORGANIZATIONS AS WELL AS LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AND BUSINESSES, IN SUPPORT OF ACCELERATED, EQUITABLE STATE CLIMATE POLICY. WE CONVENED A STATEWIDE CLIMATE POLICY SUMMIT IN SACRAMENTO, WITH OVER 200 IN ATTENDANCE, AND CONVENED MULTIPLE OTHER PARTNERSHIPS AND MEETINGS IN SUPPORT OF OUR POLICY PRIORITIES, INCLUDING THE MICROGRID EQUITY COALITION.
