AGENCY PICNIC: THE ANNUAL PICNIC WAS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID, BUT ONE IS PLANNED FOR AUGUST 2021.STAFF RECOGNITION: STAFF APPRECIATION WAS HELD VIA A DRIVE THRU TREATS AND EATS. ALSO THANK YOUS WERE ALSO DELIVERED TO STAFF. NEW T-SHIRTS WERE PROVIDED FOR ALL STAFF WISHING TO HAVE ONE.STAFF DONATIONS: THE STAFF RAISED MONEY FOR VARIOUS NEEDS IN THE COMMUNITY AND THE CENTER.COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:SOME STAFF AND INDIVIDUALS RANG THE SALVATION ARMY BELL FOR CHRISTMAS. DAY ACTIVITY MADE TOYS FOR THE SHEYENNE VALLEY FRIENDS OF ANIMALS.WORK ACTIVITY CENTER SPONSORED FUND RAISERS FOR THE RED CROSS AND SALVATION ARMY.THE CENTER ALSO DONATED TO UNITED WAY AND OTHER FUNDRAISERS IN THE COMMUNITY INCLUDING HELP WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS. STAFF VOLUNTEERED THEIR TIME. THE CENTER IS SPONSORING THEIR OWN BOCCE TOURNAMENT AND CONTINUES TO HOLD PRACTICE FOR OTHER SO COMPETITIONS, BUT IT IS ONLY LOCAL. HOWEVER, MANY ENJOY THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ACTIVE. ONE INDIVIDUAL WAS NOMINATED TO BE AN AMBASSADOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS. THE CENTER PARTICIPATED IN WINTER SHOW EVENTS, HELPED PICK UP STREETS, DELIVERED MEALS ON WHEELS, MADE KITS FOR THE ABUSED PERSON'S OUTREACH CENTER AND THE HUMANE SOCIETY. THE CENTER CREATED BUTTONS FOR THE AWARENESS WALK FOR CHILD ABUSE. INDIVIDUALS FOLD THE NEWSLETTER FOR THE LOCAL EAGLES ORGANIZATION AND VOLUNTEER AT THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. MANY PEOPLE ATTEND CHURCH AND ASSIST WITH VARIOUS CHURCH ACTIVITIES. THE CHILDREN'S PROGRAM WATERS THE FLOWERS ON THE CITY STREETS AND ASSISTS WITH CLEAN UP AT THE CITY GOLF COURSE. A THE CENTER HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN ON-THE-MOVE BY PROVIDING PERSONAL AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES FOR THIS PHYSICAL FITNESS OPPORTUNITY FOR STAFF, INDIVIDUALS, AND THE COMMUNITY. A STAFF AND A PERSON HELPED LEAD WALK AWAY THE POUNDS FOR ON-THE MOVE.MANY INDIVIDUALS BELONG TO THE NEW WELLNESS CENTER AND B-FIT FOR EXERCISING. LISBON PROGRAM THE PROGRAM CONTINUES TO VOLUNTEER AT PARKSIDE NURSING HOME, LISBON HOSPITAL SWING BED, WATER FLOWERS FOR THE CITY, STREET PICK UP AND PROMOTING THE LOCAL THEATER. THEY PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE, DELIVER MEALS ON WHEELS, AND HELP WITH CHURCH ACTIVITIES. AND SEVERAL OTHER CITY ACTIVITIES. THE THRIFT STORE IS PROVIDING JOBS FOR PEOPLE AND 2 HAVE LEARNED HOW TO RUN THE CASH REGISTER AND PROVIDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. MANY LISBON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS RECEIVE VOCATIONAL TRAINING FROM THE LISBON THRIFT STORE. MANY DONATIONS HAVE BEEN GIVEN AND DELIVERED TO THE LISBON THRIFT STORE. THE LISBON THRIFT STORE IS PROVIDING A SHOPPING STORE FOR THE CITIZENS OF LISBON WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE SEVERAL CLOSINGS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. PROPERTY IMPROVEMENTSTHE RANCH INSTALLED NEW FLOORING AND PURCHASED NEW FURNITURE FOR THE LIVING ROOM. THE ROOF WAS FIXED AND THE CRAWL SPACE REPAIRED. THE GARDEN WAS TILLED, AND THE RANCH IS SHARING THEIR LARGE GARDEN PLOT WITH OTHERS. THE GROUP HOME 2 AND GROUP HOME 4 HAD THEIR BATHROOMS UPDATED.GROUP HOME 5 RECEIVED ALL NEW FLOORING, SEVERAL BEDROOMS WERE PAINTED, AND THE BATHROOM WAS RENOVATED. SEVERAL VEHICLES WERE PURCHASED FIR ISLA. ALL VEHICLES WERE INSTALLED WITH COMPUTER MONITORING CHIPS THAT REPORT DANGEROUS DRIVING TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SAFETY MEASURES. SEVERAL NEW COMPUTERS WERE PURCHASED TO REPLACE OUTDATED ONES AND SEVERAL PHONES WERE UPDATED.TRAINING STAFF TRAINING FOR HIPPA, CPR, FIRST AID, INFECTION CONTROL AND ABUSE, NEGLECT AND EXPLOITATION, MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION, ETC.., IS OFFERED ON A CONTINUAL BASIS TO MEET THE MANDATED TRAINING REQUIREMENTS. MOST OF THE TRAINING IS PROVIDED THROUGH ZOOM. NON-VIOLENT CRISIS INTERVENTION IS OFFERED TO ALL STAFF, BUT THE HOLDS AND OTHER PHYSICAL MOVES ARE DISCUSSED BUT NOT PRACTICED DUE TO COVID. DR. GULKIN, CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST, OFFERS COUNSELING TO SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS AS WELL AS CONSULTATION WITH STAFF TWICE A MONTH. HE ALSO PROVIDED AN IN-SERVICE ON THE SUBJECT OF "POWER STRUGGLES". NUTRITIONAL CONSULTANT, SHARON BUHR PROVIDES STAFF TRAINING AS WELL AS CONSULTATION WITH INDIVIDUALS. GREAT PLAINS OFFERS ASSESSMENT AND REPAIR FOR MOBILITY DEVICES THAT ARE CRUCIAL FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO DO NOT WALK. THEY SCHEDULE MONTHLY VISITS.AGENCY OWNED BUSINESSES AND WORK:EAGLE'S NEST BOOKSTORE CONTINUES TO PROVIDE VOCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE A BRAIN INJURY. IT SELLS NEW AND USED BOOKS AND GIFT ITEMS. IT HAS PARTICIPATED IN CRAZY DAYS, WELCOME OF VCSU STUDENTS, HOLIDAY PREVIEW, THE WINTER SHOW, AND JAMESTOWN PRIDE OF DAKOTA SHOW. THIS PROVIDES AN AWARENESS OF OPEN DOOR CENTER SERVICES AND THE BOOKSTORE. SEVERAL NEW PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN ADDED. THUNDERBIRD RANCH GOURMET FOODS OFFERS TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT FOR THE INDIVIDUALS IN THE AREAS OF PACKAGING, MIXING, CRIMPING, AND BOXING OF SOUPS, BREADS, DIPS, MEAT RUBS AND WINE FRAPPES. AMBERLAND AND THUNDERBIRD ARE MAKING NEW PRODUCTS. THEY HAVE CREATED JUNEBERRY AND RHUBARB PIE FILLING FOR SALE. THERE ARE ALSO NEW DIPS AND RUBS TO SELL THROUGH THE PRIDE OF DAKOTA ARENA AS WELL AS ONLINE. AMBERLAND FOODS/DAKOTA SEASONINGS CONTINUES TO OFFER EMPLOYMENT/TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE INDIVIDUALS WE SERVE TO MAKE SYRUPS, JELLIES, AND A BBQ SAUCE. THEY ALSO PRODUCE SOUP, DIPS, AND A MEAT RUB. THE NEW GLUTEN FREE KITCHEN HAS OFFERED A NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR BOTH COMPANIES. OPEN DOOR CENTER IS MANUFACTURING COLORADO JACK POPCORN. IT IS PROVIDING WORK FOR INDIVIDUALS IN PACKAGING, CRIMPING, QUALITY CONTROL, CLEANING AND COUNTING.THE LISBON THRIFT STORE EMPLOYS SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS. THE CENTER CONTINUES WITH THE AGENCY OWNED BUSINESS AND SEVERAL CRAFT ITEMS THAT ARE GOOD SELLERS. OTHER WORK OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE SNOW REMOVAL, LAWN CARE, JANITORIAL, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION RAG CONTRACT. MANY OF THE WORK AREAS WERE CLOSED DUE TO COVID. HOWEVER RECENTLY NEW JOBS HAVE BEEN SECURED IN THE COMMUNITY AND WILL BEGIN SOON. THE ARC CONTRACT EMPLOYS SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS TO SORT THROUGH DONATED ITEMS AND THEY ARE BACK AT WORK WITH THE COVID NUMBERS BEING REDUCED. LISBON SERVICE RECIPIENTS WORK AT THE HOSPITAL, FARGO ASSEMBLY, THE THRIFT STORE,OTHER ACCOLADESTHE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CONTINUES TO SERVE AS A BOARD MEMBER OF THE BARNES COUNTY-VALLEY CITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GROUP, THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF NDACP AND A BOARD MEMBER OF ON-THE-MOVE AND SHE IS PRESIDENT OF THE CHURCH COUNCIL. VALLEY CITY STATE UNIVERSITY RE-ELECTED HER TO THE POSITION OF PRESIDENT OF THE VCSU FOUNDATION. SHE ALSO ATTENDS THE BUSINESS MANAGER MEETINGS OF NDACP. THE HUMAN RESOURCES STAFF PERSON PARTICIPATES IN THE HUMAN RESOURCE COMMITTEE OF NORTH DAKOTA ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY PROVIDERS (NDACP) AND THE HR GROUP IN FARGO AND SERVES ON THE PERSONNEL COMMITTEE FOR EPWORTH METHODIST CHURCH. OTHER ACTIVITIESTHE SELF-ADVOCACY GROUP MET REGULAR BUT THEN DIDN'T MEET DUE TO COVID. THE RECENTLY RE-ORGANIZED AND ARRANGED FOR A SPEAKER FROM THE STATE SELF-ADVOCACY GROUP AND PROVIDED A PIZZA DINNER. THEY ARE SET UP TO MEET PERIODICALLY AGAIN DEPENDING ON THE AVENUE PURSUED BY COVID. SEVERAL RESIDENTS OF THE RANCH ATTEND A SUPPORT GROUP IN FARGO, GO ON TRIPS AND ASSIST WITH RUNNING THE EAGLES NEST BOOKSTORE. THEY ALSO PROVIDED INFORMATION ON BRAIN INJURY AT THE STATE EAGLE'S CONVENTION, THE CRE PALM SUNDAY SERVICE AND ROTARY. FOR THE PALM SUNDAY SERVICE, THE RANCH OFFERED A VIDEO TO INTRODUCE THE PARISHIONERS TO THE RANCH AND THE BOOKSTORE VIA VIDEO. SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS ATTEND LOCAL CHURCHES AND PROVIDE COOKIES AND BARS FOR THE COFFEE HOUR.MANY INDIVIDUALS ATTEND BISON GAMES, CHEER ON VCSU, AND PARTICIPATE IN A SPORTS-COOP WITH VCSU VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM.
