THE COMMISSION WITH LOCAL MEMBERSHIP FROM OVER 60 COUNTRIES CONTINUES TO FOSTER UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY IN THE GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA.

ETHNIC ENRICHMENT FESTIVAL: THE 2023 FESTIVAL OCCURRED ON THE THIRD WEEKEND OF AUGUST, OFFERING ATTENDEES A CHANCE TO SAMPLE DIVERSE ETHNIC FOODS, ENJOY ENTERTAINMENT, AND VIEW CULTURAL PERFORMANCES. ETHNIC CRAFTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE. THE ETHNIC ENRICHMENT CULTURAL COUNCIL (EECC) HAS BEEN ORGANIZING THIS EVEN FOR 44 YEARS, ATTRACTING AN ESTIMATED 22,000 VISITORS. HOWEVER, THE ATTENDANCE FOR THE 2023 FESTIVAL WAS NOTABLY LOWER DUE TO THE EXTREME HEAT, WITH TEMPERATURES SOARING TO 105 DEGREES THAT WEEKEND.


NORTHLAND ETHNIC FESTIVAL: THE NORTHLAND ETHNIC FESTIVAL WAS A FREE COMMUNITY-ORIENTED EVENT DESIGNED FOR THE RESIDENTS OF NORTH KANSAS CITY TO CELEBRATE THE CITY'S CULTURAL DIVERSITY. TAKING PLACE ON A SATURDAY FROM 10:00 AM TO 3:00 PM, IT DREW APPROXIMATELY 900 ATTENDEES. VISITORS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TASTE A VARIETY OF ETHNIC FOODS, ENJOY ENTERTAINMENT, AND WATCH CULTURAL PERFORMANCES. ADDITIONALLY, A RANGE OF ETHNIC CRAFTS WERE EXHIBITED, WITH SELECT ITEMS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE.


DIPLOMATIC BALL: EECC HOSTED THE BALL EVERY YEAR. 2023 DIPLOMATIC BALL WAS HOSTED BY ENGLAND, SCOTLAND AND WALES. IT IS INTENDED TO FOSTER UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY IN THE GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA. GUESTS ENJOY ETHNIC CUISINE AND CULTURAL PERFORMANCES AT THE SHERATON KANSAS CITY HOTEL AT CROWN CENTER.


OUTREACH PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM PROMOTES DIVERSITY, ENCOURAGES ETHNIC IDENTITY, AND PRESERVES ETHNIC HERITAGE TO ALL CORNERS OF GREATER KANSAS CITY. THE DIVERSITY OF OUR MEMBERS CONTRIBUTES TO THE MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION AMONG ALL PEOPLE TOUCHED BY OUR OUTREACH PROGRAMS. WE DID THE PROGRAMS VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON IN 2023.
