THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO PRESERVE AND TELL THE STORY OF AMERICAN AGRICULTURE AND ITS GLOBAL SIGNIFICANCE THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND ACTIVITIES THAT CELEBRATE THE LAND, PEOPLE, AND THE COMMUNITIES OF THE AREA.

PUBLIC AWARENESS: SILOS & SMOKESTACKS, THROUGH ITS FEDERAL LEGISLATION AND STRATEGIC PLAN, IS CHARGED TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS, INTEREST AND VISITATION TO THE HERITAGE AREA. THESE FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR THE PRODUCTION OF MATERIALS AND PROJECTS TAHT WILL INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT OUR HERITAGE AREA.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND EDUCATION : OUR MISSION IS TO PRESERVE AND TELL THE STORY OF AGRICULTURE. OUR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WILL ENHANCE THE CAPACITY OF OUR PARTNERS SITES, COMMUNITIES AND LOCAL BUSINESSES TO PRESERVE AND DEVELOP RESOURCES THROUGH EDUCATION TO BECOME STRONGER PARTNERS AND SELF- SUSTAINING.
PROGRAM AWARDS: THE COORDINATING ENTITY OFFERS EDUCATIONAL, SCHOOL BUS, INTERN AND GENERAL PROGRAM AWARDS. THE AWARDS GIVE SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS A "HANDS-ON" LEARNING OPPORTUNITY ABOUT AG AT SILOS AND SMOKESTACKS PARTNER SITES. COLLEGE INTERNS RECEIVE PAID SUMMER EMPLOYMENT AND "ON-THE-JOB" TRAINING TO BETTER PREPARE THEM FOR A CAREER IN AGRICULTURE OR RELATED FIELD. THESE AWARDS ARE DESIGNATED TO ASSIST COMMUNITIES AND PARTNER SITES TO PRESERVE AND TELL THEIR STORY.
OTHER PROJECTS: FUNDS ARE USED TO HIGHLIGHT ACTIVITIES AND SPONSOR EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE HERTIAGE AREA. WE CULTIVATE NEW RELATIONSHIPS AND ATTRACT VOLUNTEERS TO HELP TELL THE STORY OF AGRICULTURE. OTHER PROJECTS INCLUDE EDUCATING THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTNERS AND VOLUNTEERS TO HELP MEET THE LONG-TERM GOALS OF THE ORGANIZATIONS. IN ADDITION, SOME FUNDS ARE USED TO SUPPORT EFFORTS FOR BOTH RESTRICTED AND UNRESTRICTED PROJECTS.
