MINORITY AND MENTAL HEALTH OUTREACH - PROVIDES OUTREACH SEVICES TO STUDENTS AT THE ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL LEVELS. THE SERVICE IDENTIFIES STUDENTS THAT MAY HAVE DEEP PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS THAT ARE REFERRED TO VISITING MENTAL HEALTH THERAPISTS WITH CONTINUED FOLLOW-UP SERVICES FROM SANFORD CENTER OUTREACH. ALSO PROVIDES GANG PREVENTION AND REDUCES THE INFLUENCE OF GANGS IN YOUTH; AND ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO IMPROVE ACADEMICALLY.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS - THE SANFORD CENTER WORKS WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S PARENTING COMMITTEE IN PROVIDING SUPPORT TO THE PARENTS OF CHILDREN ON THEIR CASELOAD. THE SANFORD CENTER PROVIDES FOOD ASSISTANCE, MEDICAL REFERRAL AND ASSISTANCE, HOUSING ASSISTANCE AND A MEETING PLACE FOR FAMILIES. THE SANFORD CENTER DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE AND IS OPEN TO ALL GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS IN OUR COMMUNITY.
