THE MUSCATINE HISTORY AND INDUSTRY CENTER IS HOME TO THE PEARL BUTTON MUSEUM. IT MAINTAINS AN INTERACTIVE EXHIBIT SHOWCASING HOW MUSCATINE ONCE PRODUCED 1.5 BILLION PEARL BUTTONS ANNUALLY, TO PRESERVE THE CITYS HISTORICAL IDENTITY AS THE PEARL BUTTON CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. IN ADDITION, THE CENTER DISPLAYS PERMANENT EXHIBITS TRACING THE HISTORY OF MADE IN MUSCATINE INDUSTRIES, AND TEMPORARY EXHIBITS HIGHLIGHTING AND HONORING NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF LOCAL BUSINESSES. THE ORGANIZATION MAINTAINS MUSCATINES HISTORIC SILBERHORN BUILDING.
