THE EXHIBITION WILL ALSO HIGHLIGHT THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF PLAYERS WHO TOOK UP THE GAME LATER IN LIFE AND STILL MADE A MARK ON THE WORLD OF CHESS.PAWNS & PASSPORTS: CHESS SETS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE- 6/3/21-1/30/22IN SEPTEMBER OF 2021, THE WCHOF CELEBRATED OUR TENTH ANNIVERSARY IN SAINT LOUIS. WHEN THE INSTITUTION MOVED FROM MIAMI TO SAINT LOUIS, IT ALREADY BOASTED A COLLECTION OF OVER 163 CHESS SETS. HOWEVER, THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF NUMEROUS DONORS AS WELL AS SOME PURCHASES, IT HAS INCREASED TO INCLUDE OVER 1,200 SETS FROM OVER 65 COUNTRIES. SINCE OUR OPENING, WE HAVE HOSTED NUMEROUS EXHIBITIONS BLENDING CHESS WITH ART, HISTORY, AND POPULAR CULTURE. AMONG THESE HAVE BEEN MANY SHOWS FEATURING CHESS SETS FROM OUR COLLECTION AND THOSE FROM LENDERS AROUND THE UNITED STATES AND THE WORLD. PAWNS & PASSPORTS: CHESS SETS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE INCLUDES HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE DIVERSE CHESS SET COLLECTION OF THE WORLD CHESS HALL OF FAME (WCHOF). THROUGH THIS DISPLAY, WE HOPED TO GIVE VISITORS THE OPPORTUNITY TO "TRAVEL" AROUND THE WORLD FROM OUR GALLERY.
