THE WCHOF ALSO SEEKS TO SERVE AS A REPOSITORY FOR ARTIFACTS RELATED TO THE RICH HISTORY OF THE GAME OF CHESS.KEITH HARING: RADIANT GAMBIT- 11/19/20-5/16/21KEITH HARING: RADIANT GAMBIT FEATURES ARTWORK BY HARING, A WORLD-RENOWNED POP ARTIST KNOWN FOR HIS ART THAT PROLIFERATED IN THE NEW YORK SUBWAY SYSTEM DURING THE EARLY 1980S. THE EXHIBITION INCLUDES A NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN PRIVATE COLLECTION OF HARING'S WORKS AND PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ARTIST, BESPOKE STREET ART CHESS SETS FROM PURLING LONDON AND NEWLY-COMMISSIONED PIECES BY SAINT LOUIS ARTISTS, ALL PAYING HOMAGE TO THE LATE POP CULTURE ICON.MASTERMINDS: CHESS PRODIGIES- 2/11/21-11/7/21MASTERMINDS: CHESS PRODIGIES IS AN EXHIBITION THAT TELLS THE STORIES OF NOTABLE CHESS PRODIGIES INCLUDING BOBBY FISCHER, WORLD CHESS CHAMPION MAGNUS CARLSEN AND THE POLGAR SISTERS. THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHS, VIDEOS AND MEMENTOS OF IMPORTANT CHESS MATCHES AND TOURNAMENTS FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE WORLD CHESS HALL OF FAME, VISITORS WILL LEARN MORE ABOUT THESE TALENTED YOUNG PLAYERS AS WELL AS THEIR LATER ACCOMPLISHMENTS. THE EXHIBITION WILL ALSO HIGHLIGHT THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF PLAYERS WHO TOOK UP THE GAME LATER IN LIFE AND STILL MADE A MARK ON THE WORLD OF CHESS.PAWNS & PASSPORTS: CHESS SETS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE- 6/3/21-1/30/22IN SEPTEMBER OF 2021, THE WCHOF CELEBRATED OUR TENTH ANNIVERSARY IN SAINT LOUIS. WHEN THE INSTITUTION MOVED FROM MIAMI TO SAINT LOUIS, IT ALREADY BOASTED A COLLECTION OF OVER 163 CHESS SETS. HOWEVER, THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF NUMEROUS DONORS AS WELL AS SOME PURCHASES, IT HAS INCREASED TO INCLUDE OVER 1,200 SETS FROM OVER 65 COUNTRIES. SINCE OUR OPENING, WE HAVE HOSTED NUMEROUS EXHIBITIONS BLENDING CHESS WITH ART, HISTORY, AND POPULAR CULTURE. AMONG THESE HAVE BEEN MANY SHOWS FEATURING CHESS SETS FROM OUR COLLECTION AND THOSE FROM LENDERS AROUND THE UNITED STATES AND THE WORLD. PAWNS & PASSPORTS: CHESS SETS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE INCLUDES HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE DIVERSE CHESS SET COLLECTION OF THE WORLD CHESS HALL OF FAME (WCHOF). THROUGH THIS DISPLAY, WE HOPED TO GIVE VISITORS THE OPPORTUNITY TO "TRAVEL" AROUND THE WORLD FROM OUR GALLERY. WE ALSO WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT THE STORIES THESE SETS TELL, BOTH THROUGH THEIR IMAGERY AND THE STORIES OF HOW THEY TRAVELED FROM THEIR PLACES OF ORIGIN TO OUR LOCATION IN SAINT LOUIS.CHECK PLEASE! CHESS DINING & DECOR- 6/3/21-1/30/22FOOD, LIKE THE GAME OF CHESS, BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER. CHECK, PLEASE! HIGHLIGHTS FOOD AND DRINK-THEMED CHESS SETS AND CHESS INSPIRED TABLEWARE, UTENSILS, ETC. FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE WORLD CHESS HALL OF FAME. MANY OF THE LATTER DATE FROM THE 1960S AND 1970S, WHEN AMERICAN GRANDMASTER BOBBY FISCHER BROUGHT ATTENTION TO THE GAME THROUGH HIS PHENOMENAL PERFORMANCES ON THE INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL STAGES. FEATURED OVER 150 ARTIFACTS FROM THE PERMANENT COLLECTION OF THE WORLD CHESS HALL OF FAME INCLUDING PHOTOGRAPHS, GLASSWARE, APRONS, CHESSBOARDS AND SETS, ADVERTISEMENTS, SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS, MENUS, BAR SIGNS, SERVING DISHES, TABLECLOTHS, KITCHEN TOWELS, AND ALCOHOL VESSELS ALL FEATURING OR HIGHLIGHTING CHESS.
