THE DUBUQUE ARBORETUM IS A 57 ACRE PUBLIC GARDEN. IT IS THE ONLY ARBORETUM AND BOTANICAL GARDEN IN THE USA MAINTAINED ENTIRELY BY VOLUNTEERS. MANY DEDICATED INDIVIDUALS MAINTAIN TREES, PLANTS & SHRUBS, AND SEED-GIFTS WHICH ARE LABELED THROUGHOUT THE GARDEN. THE GARDENS CONSIST OF A FORMAL ROSE GARDEN,BAUSMAN OLD GARDEN OF ROSES,ENGLISH KNOT GARDEN,FORMAL ENGLISH GARDEN,HERB GARDEN,MCGREGER'S CHILDREN'S GARDEN,HOSTA GARDEN,JAPANESE GARDEN,IOWA STATE AND ALL AMERICAN TEST GARDENS,ANNUAL AND PERENNIAL GARDENS, COMMUNITY GARDEN OF EAT'N AND DWARF CONIFERS. THE DUBUQUE ARBORETUM HAS THE LARGEST PUBLIC HOSTA GARDEN IN THE UNITED STATES (13,000 WITH 700 VARIETIES), RECOGNIZED BY THE NATIONAL HOSTA SOCIETY. WE OFFER FREE SUNDAY CONCERTS AND OPEN AIR FACILITIES AVAILABLE FOR LUNCHEONS & MEETINGS.
