Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
THROUGH OUR EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, WE SPONSORED 1,050 CHILDREN IN 30 PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ON THE ISLAND. DUE TO COVID-19 THE STUDENTS WERE ALL STUDYING AT HOME WITH THEIR TEACHERS PREPARING MODULES FOR EACH SUBJECT, WHICH WERE PICKED UP BY THE PARENTS AND RETURNED WHEN COMPLETED. WE STILL PROVIDED THE USUAL RANGE OF NOTEBOOKS, PENS, PENCILS, SCISSORS, ART PAPER AND PAD PAPER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. AND THEN WE MADE MONTHLY DELIVERIES OF ADDITIONAL PAD PAPER, PENCILS AND PENS. EACH MONTH DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR WE ADDED 4 MORE HIGH SCHOOLS TO OUR ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. SO WE GAVE OUT CASH STIPENDS TO 240 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR THEIR SCHOOL NEEDS SUCH AS SUPPLIES AND UNIFORMS. THIS ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED AT EIGHT PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS WHERE 5 STUDENTS WERE SPONSORED IN EACH GRADE LEVEL FROM GRADE 7 THROUGH 12 FOR A TOTAL OF 240 STUDENTS. AND WE GAVE OUT ADDITIONAL FUNDS TWICE MORE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. BOTH THE ELEMENTARY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS DID WELL DESPITE THE DIFFICULTY OF STUDYING FROM HOME. A NUMBER OF THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS RECEIVED HONORS AT THE END OF THE YEAR. AND ALL OF THE STUDENTS WE SPONSORED GRADUATED OR MOVED UP A GRADE. DUE TO COVIE-19 WE WERE NOT ABLE TO SEND ANY HANDICAPPED CHILDREN FOR ELECTIVE SURGERY (CLEFT REPAIR AND EYE SURGERIES) AND BOTH PHYSICAL THERAPY CENTERS WERE CLOSED, SO OUR NURSE MADE HOME VISITS AND URGED PARENTS TO CONTINUE THEIR EXERCISES AT HOME. THE SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS INCLUDING THE DEAF HAD TO WORK ON MODULES AT HOME AND WE ASSISTED WITH THEIR SCHOOL SUPPLIES. THESE STUDENTS HAD A DIFFICULT TIME, ESPECIALLY THE DEAF WHO SELDOM HAVE ANYONE AT HOME WHO KNOWS SIGN LANGUAGE. THIS COMING SCHOOL YEAR WE EXPECT ALL OF THE SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS TO BE BACK AT IN PERSON CLASSES AND WE HOPE THEY CAN CATCH UP.
