TRANSLATION SERVICES - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES CONTRACTED AND 24-HOUR EMERGENCY TRANSLATION SERVICES TO VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT IOWA.
THE CENTER HOSTS INTERNATIONAL VISITORS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, INTENDED TO BUILD MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE U.S. AND OTHER COUNTRIES THROUGH CAREFULLY DESIGNED VISITS THAT REFLECT THE PARTICIPANT'S PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS AND SUPPORT U.S. FOREIGN POLICY GOALS.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING (ELL/ESL) - THE CENTER PROVIDES ACCESSIBLE ELL/ESL CLASSES FOR REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS WHERE THEY LIVE, WORK AND GATHER. OUR FREE CLASSES ARE TAUGHT BY PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTORS, AND ENGAGE PRE-LITERATE AND LOW-ENGLISH PROFICIENCY ADULT STUDENTS IN EFFECTIVE ENGLISH INSTRUCTION SO THEY CAN THRIVE IN IOWA, GET BETTER JOBS AND HELP THEIR CHILDREN IN SCHOOL. THE CLASSES ARE DESIGNED TO REMOVE THE BARRIERS CREATED BY LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES TO ATTEND EXISTING ELL/ESL CLASSES, LOCATION, AND TRANSPORTATION FOR STUDENTS BY SIMULTANEOUSLY ADDRESSING THEIR BASIC NEEDS.
