EDUCATION: THE COMPANY SPENDS TIME EDUCATING THE PUBLIC AND YOUTH ABOUT IOWA'S AGRICULTURE AND THE AGRICULTURAL ECONOMY. FIVE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO DESERVING LOCAL STUDENTS. THE COMPANY ALSO EXPANDED ITS AG IN THE CLASSROOM PROGRAM WITH A YEAR-ROUND COORDINATOR. PROGRAMS AND PRESENTATIONS WERE COMPLETED IN LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND VIA WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY AS WELL AS HANDS ON, IN-CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES. 2,000 STUDENTS WERE IMPACTED BY THESE PROGRAMS.
PUBLIC POLICY: THE COMPANY FUNCTIONS AS A GRASSROOTS SUPPORT NETWORK FOR ENGAGING IN PUBLIC POLICY EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATIONS AFFECTING THEIR MEMBERSHIP. A MEMBER SURVEY IS PRINTED AND DISTRIBUTED TO 600 MEMBERS TO OBTAIN THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ON ISSUES AFFECTING THEM ON A LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEVEL. LEGISLATIVE MEETINGS AND POLICY EDUCATION SESSIONS WERE HOSTED FOR MEMBERS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.
AGRICULTURE PROMOTION: THE COMPANY PROMOTED AGRICULTURE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND ITS MEMBERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE COMPANY PROMOTED AGRICULTURE THROUGH SPONSORSHIP OF THE EIGHT LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES AND SPONSORSHIP OF EVENTS AT THE COUNTY FAIR FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. A MEETING AND APPRECIATION EVENT OF THE COMPANY'S MEMBERSHIP WAS HELD FOR 200 ATTENDEES TO PROMOTE LOCAL AGRICULTURE PROGRAMING.
