U-TURN 180 YOUTH PROGRAM- PROVIDES FAMILY MEALS, HOMEWORK HELP, RECREATION, AND CREATIVE ARTS WORKSHOPS WEEKLY DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, PLUS ART AND SPORTS CAMPS DURING THE SUMMER. SERVING 200 YOUTH (PREK-12TH). THIS ALSO INCLUDES A "BACK TO SCHOOL" EVENT THAT PROVIDES FREE BACKPACKS WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND CONNECTS FAMILIES TO COMMUNITY PARTNERS. IN 202, FAMILY VALUES FOR LIFE DISTRIBUTED 2,760 BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SUPPLIES, 7,000 POUNDS OF PRODUCE, 4 PALLETS OF NEW CLOTHES (SOCKS, T-SHIRTS, PANTS, PJ'S), 900 FAMILIES WHO HAD ACCESS TO 40+ COMMUNITY RESOURCES.
JUMP START TO THE NEW YOU - HELPS SINGLE HEADS-OF-HOUSEHOLD (MOSTLY WOMEN) BUILD SKILLS, ACCESS RESOURCES, AND BECOME ENGAGED PARENTS, PROVIDERS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGH WEEKLY WORKSHOPS AND PERIODIC EVENTS. IN 2021 WE PROVIDED 119 JUMP START TO THE NEW YOU VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS FOR 80 PARTICIPANTS IN THREE GROUPS/SITES (THERESA LIVING CENTER, NAOMI FAMILY CENTER, AND AN ONLINE-ONLY GROUP). IT ALSO INCLUDES A PROGRAM CALLED BEAUTY FOR ASHES WHICH IS A GRIEF AND TRAUMA COUNSELING AND SUPPORT FOR 20-30 WOMEN PER YEAR, THROUGH INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP SETTINGS. 24 WOMEN PARTICIPATED IN BEAUTY FOR ASHES IN 2021
OTHER PROGRAMS --COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENTS - HELP BUILD COMMUNITY AND COUNTER THE SOCIAL ISOLATION FELT BY SO MANY IN POVERTY. 2021 OUTREACH EVENTS REACHED 300 PEOPLE AND INCLUDED A BABY SHOWER (JULY 2021), DOULA EVENT (AUGUST 2021), CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY, VIRTUAL WOMEN'S CONFERENCE -FAMILY SUPPORT - 3,000 COMMUNITY REFERRALS PER YEAR, PLUS GOAL-SETTING AND RESOURCE NAVIGATION FOR 20-30 FAMILIES USING THE FAMILY-CENTERED COACHING MODEL (THIS IS A NEW CONTRACT WITH RAMSEY COUNTY). --READING PROGRAM - PROVIDING 100 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS WITH BEFORE/AFTER-SCHOOL AND 6-WEEK SUMMER READING SUPPORT. 90% OF STUDENTS WHO ATTENDED 2021 SUMMER READING ACADEMY EXPERIENCED AN INCREASE IN LITERACY SKILLS (AND THE REST MAINTAINED SKILLS). THIS PROGRAM IS SUPPORTED BY MULTI-YEAR FUNDING FROM SAINT PAUL CHILDREN'S COLLABORATIVE. -BASIC NEEDS SUPPORT - WEEKLY FOOD AND QUARTERLY HOUSEHOLD SUPPLIES DISTRIBUTION. THIS IS A NEW PROGRAM, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SECOND HARVEST, THAT BEGAN IN 2021 DUE TO THE ONGOING IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC.
