THE ISD IS A NON-PROFIT PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY DEDICATED TO ADVANCEMENT OF THE FIELD OF CELL AND DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY AND EXCHANGE OF RESERACH DATA. THE ISD SEEKS TO PROVIDE AN INTERNATIONAL FORUM FOR COMMUNICATION OF RESEARCH IN THREE KEY AREAS - CANCER, MORPHOGENESIS AND STEM CELLS - THROUGH INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS AND THROUGH THE JOURNAL, DIFFERENTIATION.

CONFERENCE - THE ISD HOSTS AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE EVERY TWO YEARS. THE 2020 CONFERENCE WAS SCHEDULED TO BE HELD IN MALTA IN SEPTEMBER 2020. HOWEVER, IT WAS POSTPONED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE CONFERENCE WAS RESCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 2022. 3 GRANTS WERE AWARDED DURING 2021. EXPENSES RELATED TO THE CONFERENCE IN 2021 WERE RELATED TO SERVICES PERFORMED FOR PLANNING THE CONFERENCE.
JOURNAL - DIFFERENTIATION IS A MULTIDISCIPLINARY JOURNAL DEALING WITH TOPICS RELATING TO CELL DIFFERENTIATION, DEVELOPMENT, CELLULAR STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION. DIFFERENTIATION OF EUKARYOTES AT THE MOLECULAR LEVEL AND THE USE OF TRANSGENIC AND TARGETED MUTAGENESIS APPROACHES TO PROBLEMS OF DIFFERENTIATION ARE OF PARTICULAR INTEREST TO THE JOURNAL. THE PRINCIPAL SUBJECT AREAS THE JOURNAL COVERS ARE: -EMBRYONIC PATTERNING AND ORGANOGENESIS -HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND CONGENITAL MALFORMATION -MECHANISMS OF CELL LINEAGE COMMITMENT -ESTABLISHMENT OF CELLULAR POLARITY -STEM CELL DIFFERENTIATION -CELL REPROGRAMMING MECHANISMS -STABILITY OF THE DIFFERENTIATED STATE -CELL AND TISSUE INTERACTIONS IN VIVO AND IN VITRO -SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION PATHWAYS IN DEVELOPMENT AND DIFFERENTIATION -DIFFERENTIATION IN REGENERATION AND AGING -THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS OF DIFFERENTIATION PROCESSES.
