Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
INCREASED THE AVAILABILITY OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TOOLS AND RESOURCES TO ENABLE MEMBER SUCCESS. WE CREATED A VIRTUAL NUTRITION EDUCATION WEBINAR SERIES THAT WAS AVAILABLE TO ALL MEMBERS AT AN EXCEPTIONALLY LOW COST THAT ALLOWED ALL MEMBERS TO GET CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEU) AND TO PARTICIPATE LIVE WITH THE INSTRUCTORS DUE TO CANCELATION OF OUR IN PERSON CONFERENCES. WE HAD ATTENDEES FROM ALL OVER THE STATE THAT NORMALLY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ATTEND MEETINGS. WE UTILIZED THE ZOOM PLATFORM TO HOST VIRTUAL CHAPTER LEADERSHIP MEETINGS THAT ALLOWED MSNA TO MEET WITH OUR CHAPTER OFFICERS TO DISCUSS ISSUES ON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND PARLIAMENTARY GUIDELINES. THIS ALLOWED MORE CHAPTERS TO PARTICIPATE WITH A TIMELINE OF ONE HOUR EACH FOR 4 MONTHS. TO KEEP ALL SAFE, WE GAVE OUR CHAPTERS ACCESS TO USE OUR ZOOM ACCOUNT TO HOLD THEIR MONTHLY MEETINGS FROM THEIR HOMES. THIS ALLOWED MSNA TO MAXIMIZE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO ALL MSNA MEMBERS. ADVOCACY AND PUBLIC IMAGE: POLICY MAKERS, SCHOOL OFFICIALS, PARENTS AND SCHOOL NUTRITION PROFESSIONALS RELY ON SNA/MSNA AS THE LEADING ADVOCATE FOR SCHOOL NUTRITION PROGRAMS. WE FOCUSED ON MORE EXPOSURE OF OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM BY UTILIZING MEMBERSHIP STORIES, SHARING SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES, AND SHOWCASING A BETTER OVERVIEW AND PERCEPTION OF SCHOOL NUTRITION PROGRAMS. WE DEVELOPED A LETTER TEMPLATE OUTLINING ALL THE POSITIVES FOR THE SCHOOL NUTRITION PROGRAMS THAT OUR MEMBERS SEND TO THE MN LEGISLATURE. WE WANTED TO BE PROACTIVE IN LETTING THEM ALL KNOW OF OUR GOOD WORK. WE SENT OUT ACTION ALERTS FOR UNIVERSAL MEALS AND WE HAVE UTILIZED OUR PUBLIC POLICY CHAIR AND LOBBYIST TO WORK WITH ALL THE STATE HUNGER ADVOCATES EDUCATING THEM ON SCHOOL NUTRITION PROGRAMS. MEMBERSHIP AND COMMUNITY SCHOOL NUTRITION PROGRAMS ARE STRENGTHENED THROUGH THE ENGAGEMENT, LEADERSHIP, AND COLLABORATION WITH MSNA MEMBERS, STATE AFFILIATES, INDUSTRY AND ALLIED PARTNERS, AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS. MSNA HELD A +L MEMBERSHIP CHALLENGE FOR OUR MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN SNA NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE. AS INCENTIVE, A CONFERENCE REGISTRATION WAS GIVEN TO A PERSON THAT BROUGHT IN A NEW MEMBER. MSNA DID A LARGE MEDIA OUTREACH TO ENCOURAGE MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SNA AWARDS PROGRAM AND THE STATE AWARD PROGRAM. WE HAD A VERY LARGE RESPONSE AND HAD 2 MIDWEST REGIONAL AWARD WINNERS.
GOVERNANCE & OPERATIONS MSNA WILL HAVE A FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE FUNDING MODEL WITH A NIMBLE GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE THAT IS ALIGNED WITH THE STRATEGIC PLAN AND REFLECTS CONTEMPORARY ASSOCIATION BUSINESS PRACTICES. MSNA REVALUATED HOW TO IT WOULD BE BEST TO PROMOTE EDUCATIONAL TRAININGS WITH ALL THE COVID RESTRICTIONS AND CANCELATION OF CONFERENCES. A ROBUST PLAN WAS CREATED FOR VIRTUAL TRAININGS USING ZOOM AND INCORPORATING OUR INDUSTRY PARTNERS TO HELP EDUCATE OUR MEMBERS. TO MAKE SURE MSNA IS COMPLIANT AS A STATE AFFILIATE, WE HAD OUR BYLAW COMMITTEE TO REVIEW HOW ELECTIONS FOR NON-FIDUCIARY DIRECTOR POSITIONS COULD BE UPDATED AND HOW TO MODIFY LEADERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERS TO SERVE ON THE BOARD. AMENDMENTS HAVE BEEN DRAFTED AND APPROVED BY SNA TO UPDATE THE ELECTION PROCESS, UTILIZE THE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CHAIR TO MENTOR INCOMING BOARD & COMMITTEE MEMBERS. THE CURRENT POLICY-PROCEDURE MANUALS ARE BEING UPDATED TO REFLECT PROCEDURES FOR ALL BOARD MEMBERS & COMMITTEES THAT WILL GIVE THEM THE GUIDANCE FOR BEST PRACTICES IN FINANCIAL, MORAL, ETHICAL, AND PROFESSIONAL IMPACT.
