SCHUBERT CLUB CREATES INSPIRING MUSICAL EXPERIENCES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THE CULTURAL VIBRANCY OF THE TWIN CITIES COMMUNITY THROUGH CONCERT PRESENTATIONS, MUSIC EDUCATION AND STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS, AND MUSEUM EXHIBITS.

CONCERTSSCHUBERT CLUB'S 2021-22 CONCERT PROGRAMMING WENT FORWARD AS SCHEDULED DESPITE STARTING THE YEAR WITH UNCERTAINTY AROUND COVID DISRUPTIONS FOR BOTH ARTISTS AND AUDIENCES. ALL REGULAR SERIES CONCERTS TOOK PLACE IN FRONT OF LIVE AUDIENCES. IN ADDITION, SCHUBERT CLUB PRODUCED AND PRESENTED AN 8-CONCERT DIGITAL SERIES. SCHUBERT CLUB'S INTERNATIONAL ARTIST SERIES (IAS), ONE OF ONLY A FEW RECITAL-FORMAT SERIES IN THE UNITED STATES, IS KEY TO THE ORGANIZATION'S NATIONAL AND WORLDWIDE REPUTATION FOR ENGAGING THE WORLD'S GREATEST ARTISTS IN SOLO PERFORMANCES. CONCERTS ARE HELD AT THE ORDWAY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IN SAINT PAUL, MN.SCHUBERT CLUB'S MUSIC IN THE PARK SERIES IS ONE OF THE FEW DEDICATED CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES IN MINNESOTA, AND FEATURES GUEST ENSEMBLES OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PROMINENCE. CONCERTS ARE HELD AT SAINT ANTHONY PARK UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST IN SAINT PAUL, MN.SCHUBERT CLUB MIX IS AN INNOVATIVE SERIES DESIGNED TO TAKE THE FORMALITY OUT OF CLASSICAL MUSIC. AUDIENCES ARE TREATED TO REMARKABLE AND INTIMATE PERFORMANCES IN NON-TRADITIONAL VENUES FEATURING AN ECLECTIC RANGE OF ARTISTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY INFLUENCING THE MUSICAL LANDSCAPE.SCHUBERT CLUB'S COURTROOM CONCERT SERIES IS NAMED FOR ITS REGULAR LOCATION IN A HISTORIC COURTROOM AT LANDMARK CENTER IN SAINT PAUL, MN. TO ALLOW AUDIENCE AND ARTISTS MORE SPACE, THE 2021-22 CONCERTS WERE LOCATED IN LANDMARK CENTER'S MAIN FLOOR CORTILE. THIS WEEKLY SERIES OF FREE, NOON-TIME CONCERTS FEATURES MINNESOTA-BASED MUSICIANS AND COMPOSERS.ACCORDO IS A HIGHLY REGARDED STRING ENSEMBLE COMPRISED OF PRESENT AND FORMER PRINCIPALS OF THE SAINT PAUL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA AND MINNESOTA ORCHESTRA. SCHUBERT CLUB PRESENTS ACCORDO IN WESTMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, ICEHOUSE AND THE ORDWAY.IN NOVEMBER 2021 THE DANISH STRING QUARTET PLAYED THE BEETHOVEN QUARTET CYCLE IN SIX CONCERTS TO SOLD-OUT AUDIENCES, COMPLETING A RESIDENCY THAT HAD BEEN TWICE DELAYED DUE TO COVID IN PRIOR SEASONS. THE SCHUBERT CLUB FEATURED ARTIST FOR THE 2021-22 SEASON WAS ICELANDIC PIANIST VIKINGUR OLAFSSON, WHO PLAYED RECITALS AT THE ORDWAY IN SAINT PAUL AND ARIA IN MINNEAPOLIS, AND LED A PIANO MASTER CLASS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.
MUSIC EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTSCHUBERT CLUB BELIEVES THAT MUSIC EDUCATION AND ARTS ACCESS ARE ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF LIVING IN A CULTURALLY RICH AND HEALTHY COMMUNITY. PROJECT CHEER, IN ITS 53RD YEAR, OFFERED FREE PIANO AND GUITAR LESSONS FOR APPROXIMATELY 100 STUDENTS IN GRADES PRE-K AND 3-12 AT THE HALLIE Q. BROWN/MARTIN LUTHER KING COMMUNITY CENTER.KIDSJAM IS AN INTERACTIVE PROGRAM FOR KIDS AGES 5-12 TO PLAY, LISTEN, LEARN AND CREATE WITH MUSIC. DURING ITS 8TH SEASON, 20 KIDSJAM WORKSHOPS WERE LED BY A DIVERSE ARRAY OF MUSICIANS AND TEACHING ARTISTS. IN ADDITION TO IN-PERSON LEARNING, SCHUBERT CLUB PRODUCED 4 NEW MUSEUM MINIS, FREE VIRTUAL 15-MINUTE INTERACTIVE SESSIONS, AVAILABLE PERMANENTLY ON THE WEBSITE, FOR ALL AGES TO LEARN ABOUT INSTRUMENTS FROM THE SCHUBERT CLUB MUSIC MUSEUM.STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPSTHE BRUCE P. CARLSON STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION, HELD ANNUALLY SINCE 1922, ATTRACTED 175 STUDENT MUSICIANS FROM THE FIVE-STATE REGION, FROM JUNIOR HIGH TO GRADUATE SCHOOL LEVEL. 34 SCHOLARSHIPS WITH A TOTAL VALUE OF $53,500 WERE AWARDED TO COMPETITION WINNERS IN SIX CATEGORIES. SCHUBERT CLUB ALSO AWARDED GRANTS THAT TOTALED $7,230 FOR STUDENT PARTICIPATION AT THREE SAINT PAUL SUMMER MUSIC PROGRAMS, ONE MUSICAL PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP, AND THREE JAZZ PIANO SCHOLARSHIPS, FOR AN ADDITIONAL TWELVE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS.
