PROMOTE HIGHER BUSINESS STANDARDS AND BETTER BUSINESS METHODS IN THE LONG- TERM HEALTH CARE PROFESSION BY ENCOURAGING AND ADVANCING THE IMPORTANCE OF UNIFORMITY, COOPERATION, COMPLIANCE, AND EDUCATION IN THE DELIVERY OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES TO THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED.

WISCAREGIVER CAREERS IS A GRANT-FUNDED WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY WHCA SINCE 2020. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ADDRESS THE CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE (CNA) SHORTAGE IN WISCONSIN NURSING HOMES BY PROVIDING FREE CNA TRAINING, FREE CERTIFICATION TESTING, AND A 500 BONUS. IN 2022, WHCA SUCCESSFULLY CLOSED A 400,000 GRANT FROM THE WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT WHICH FUNDED THE PROGRAM FROM 2020-2022. ALSO IN 2022, WHCA BECAME SUB-GRANTEES ON A 6 MILLION CDC GRANT WHICH FUNDED THE PROGRAM FROM 2022-2024. MOST OF THE GRANT FUNDING IS PASSED THROUGH WHCA TO PARTICIPATING EMPLOYERS TO REIMBURSE THEM FOR THEIR TRAINING AND STAFF BONUS EXPENSES. WHCA RECEIVES REVENUE FROM THE CDC GRANT IN THE FORM OF A 41% OVERHEAD FEE CHARGED TO ALL STAFF HOURS COVERED BY THE GRANT.


SPONSOR A 2 DAY ANNUAL FALL CONVENTION AND BUSINESS MEETING FOR ALL MEMBERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVIEWING AND ASSESSING THE ACTIVITIES OF THE PAST YEAR AS WELL AS APPROVING AN ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE ENSUING YEAR. ADDITIONALLY, A NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS IS ELECTED BY THE MEMBERSHIP, WHICH THEN ESTABLISHES A NEW SLATE OF OFFICERS. THE NEW BOARD WILL GENERALLY SET UP AND APPROVE AN OPERATIONAL AGENDA FOR THE COMING YEAR IN VIEW OF CURRENT AND PENDING LAWS AND REGULATIONS. EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS ARE ALSO PROVIDED AT THE EVENT, FOR WHICH LICENSED PERSONNEL CAN ATTEND AND QUALIFY FOR CONTINUING EDUCATIONAL CREDITS. NON-MEMBERS MAY ATTEND BUT ARE EXCLUDED FROM THE BUSINESS MEETING PORTION OF THE EVENT.


CONDUCT EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS THROUGHOUT THE STATE FOR MEMBER AND NON-MEMBER LONG-TERM CARE PERSONNEL DEALING WITH TOPICS SPECIFIC TO ALL ASPECTS OF THE PROVISION OF LONG-TERM HEALTH CARE TO THE STATE'S ELDERLY AND DISABLED POPULATION. ALL SEMINARS ARE APPROVED FOR THE RECEIPT OF CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS FOR ANY LICENSED PERSONNEL REQUIRED BY LAW TO MAINTAIN THEIR CREDENTIALS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE DISCIPLINE. PARTICIPANTS INCLUDE PERSONNEL FROM OVER 500 NURSING FACILITIES, ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES, COMMUNITY BASED RESIDENTIAL CARE FACILITIES, AND RESIDENTIAL CARE APARTMENT COMPLEXES LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THESE INDIVIDUALS SPECIALIZE IN ALL AREAS OF CARE AKIN TO AN INDIVIDUAL'S ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING.


SPONSOR AN ANNUAL 2 DAY SPRING CONFERENCE AND EXPOSITION FOR LONG-TERM HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS AS WELL AS ANYONE INTERESTED IN NURSING CAREERS IN LONG-TERM HEALTH CARE. THE EVENT INCLUDES OVER 100 VENDORS OF LONG-TERM HEALTH CARE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES WHO EXHIBIT OR DEMONSTRATE THE LATEST IDEAS AND INNOVATION IN THE DELIVERY OF LONG-TERM HEALTH CARE SERVICES TO SOME 500 MEMBER AND NON-MEMBER PERSONNEL REPRESENTING OVER 300 LONG-TERM CARE/ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES. EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS ARE ALSO PROVIDED AT THE EVENT FOR WHICH LICENSED PERSONNEL CAN ATTEND AND EARN CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS.
