TO COLLECT AND PRESERVE THE ARCHAEOLOGY, BUILDINGS, RECORDS AND OBJECTS RELATING TO THE HISTORY OF THE CITY OF BELOIT AND ITS SURROUNDING AREA.

PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE THE OPERATION AND RESTORATION OF THE HANCHETT-BARTLETT HOMESTEAD AND MUSEUM, PROVIDING EXHIBITS OF LOCAL HISTORICAL VALUE AND PROGRAMS FOR THE PUBLIC REGARDING LOCAL HISTORICAL EVENTS, MAINTAINING ARCHIVES, AND PROVIDING HISTORICAL PRESERVATION CONSULTATION. OUR MAJOR PROGRAM OF SERVICE IS PUBLIC EDUCATION. THIS IS MAINLY ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH EXHIBITS AT THE LINCOLN CENTER WHERE WE HAVE A ROTATING SERIES OF SMALL EXHIBITS DURING THE YEAR. WE ALSO HAVE ANNUAL PROGRAMS THAT FEATURE HISTORICAL TOPICS THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO THE SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP AND GENERAL PUBLIC. IN ADDITION, HOUSED IN THE LINCOLN CENTER IS THE SPORTS HALL OF FAME AND THE BELOIT HISTORICAL SOCIETY HALL OF FAME WHICH RECOGNIZE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS TO THE CITY OF BELOIT. A SECOND MAJOR PROGRAM IS THE CARE AND HOUSING OF OUR COLLECTIONS AT OUR HEADQUARTERS BUILDING LINCOLN CENTER. THESE COLLECTIONS OF OBJECTS, BOOKS, PAPERS, ETC. FORM THE FOUNDATION OF ALL OTHER SERVICES AND PROGRAMMING WE PROVIDE. WE HANDLE HUNDREDS OF RESEARCH REQUESTS FOR GENEALOGICAL AND HISTORICAL INFORMATION. OUR PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTIONS ARE USED WIDELY BY LOCAL BUSINESSES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. A THIRD MAJOR PROGRAM SERVICE IS THE MAINTENANCE AND CARE OF THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORICAL PLACES LISTED HANCHETT-BARTLETT HOMESTEAD.
