UEDA'S WORK HAS FOCUSED PRIMARILY ON HOUSING DEVELOPMENT, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND JOB CREATION WITH AN EMPHASIS ON REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION, FORECLOSURE MITIGATION, SUSTAINABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP AND REGIONAL FOOD INITIATIVES.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANC - UEDA IS A SUBRECIPIENT FOR U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDS FOR THE CITY OF MILWAUKEE. PROJECTS INCLUDE COORDINATION OF COMMUNITY PLANNING AND EVICTION PREVENTION SERVICES, POLICY AND PROGRAM REVIEW/DEVELOPMENT, NEIGHBORHOOD-BASED DATA ANALYSIS AND TRAINING SUPPORT, AND ORGANIZATIONAL-BASED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO STRENGTHEN THE OPERATIONS OF OTHER CDBG-FUNDED AGENCIES (I.E. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, STRATEGIC PLANNING, PROGRAM EVALUATION, TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE).
OTHER COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS - OTHER COLLABORATIVE PROJECTSUEDA ALSO ENGAGES IN OTHER INITIATIVES AS AN INTERMEDIARY, ASSISTING TO BUILD AND FACILITATE COLLABORATIONS AMONG INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS AND GROUPS WORKING ACROSS SECTORS IN ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT OF THE NONPROFIT SECTOR. TAKE ROOT MILWAUKEE - A PROGRAM OF UEDA, THIS INITIATIVE IS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF MILWAUKEE, FREDDIE MAC AND 48 OTHER MEMBERS TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP RESOURCES AND STRONG NEIGHBORHOODS. UEDA PROVIDES PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION THAT ASSISTS WITH VARIOUS EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE HOMEOWNERSHIP EDUCATION, CONNECTS CONSUMERS TO HOMEBUYING AND HOME REPAIR AND RESOURCES, AND MITIGATES THE IMPACT OF FORECLOSURES ON NEIGHBORHOODS.
