EDUCATION, PRESERVATION, ADVANCEMENT AND DISSEMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORY OF THE PORT WASHINGTON AREA. OUR GOAL IS TO PRESERVE THE LOCAL HISTORY OF PORT WASHINGTON AND PROVIDE ENRICHING EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL GENERATIONS.

OPERATING THE PORT EXPLOREUM IN THE HISTORIC HENRY HILL BUILDING BUILT IN 1907. THE EXLPOREUM CREATES OPPORTUNITIES FOR INSPIRATIONAL DISCOVERY AND JOYFUL LEARNING THROUGH HANDS-ON EXPLORATION OF THE RICH HISTORY OF THE PORT WASHINGTON,WI AREA. USING A VARIETY OF METHODS OF STORY-TELLING, THE EXPLOREUM CONNECTS VISITORS WITH THE PAST WHILE RELATING THAT HISTORY WITH TODAY'S PORT WASHINGTON.ONGOING RESTORATION OF THE HISTORIC 1860 PORT WASHINGTON LIGHT STATION, TOURS ARE GIVEN TO SCHOOL AGE GROUPS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ( WHEN AVAILABLE ). THE LIGHT STATION IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FROM MAY THROUGH OCTOBER. A PUBLIC KIOSK PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT PORT WASHINGTON'S NAVIGATIONAL LIGHTS WAS PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED WITH THE AID OF AN EAGLE SCOUT.ACQUISITION AND PRESERVATION OF ARTIFACTS AND ARCHIVAL MATERIALS GERMANE TO THE AREA SURROUNDING AND INCLUDING PORT WASHINGTON WI ARE COLLECTED AND DISPLAYED FOR EDUCATIONAL AND PERSERVATION.HEALTH CONCERNS AND A COVID 19 WORLD WIDE EPIDEMIC( CORONAVIRUS DISEASE ) SEVERELY LIMITED THE ORGANIZATION THIS YEAR. REVENUE SOURCES WERE LIMITED AND VARIOUS PROGRAMS WERE CLOSED OR HALTED. AS A RESULT, A SECOND PPP LOAN WAS APPLIED FOR, RECEIVED AND SUBSEQUENTLY FORGIVEN.
