IT ACCOMPLISHES THIS MISSION THROUGH A SET OF INTERRELATED ACTIVITIES THAT SUPPORT AND EDUCATE PARENTS, AND INFORM PRACTITIONERS, POLICYMAKERS AND THE PUBLIC ABOUT CHILDREN WITH MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS AND THE BENEFITS OF FAMILY-DRIVEN SYSTEMS OF CARE.

FAMILY SUPPORT, ADVOCACY, AND INFORMATION & ASSISTANCE:THE PRIMARY WORK OF THE AGENCY IS TO PROVIDE A SET OF INTERRELATED SERVICES TO FAMILIES THAT INCLUDE CHILDREN OR ADOLESCENTS WITH SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, OR BEHAVIORAL CHALLENGES. THIS WORK IS CARRIED OUT BY PARENT PEER SPECIALISTS, WHO ARE SPECIALLY TRAINED FOR AN INFORMATION, SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY ROLE. THE SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED BY A PARENT PEER SPECIALIST ARE INDIVIDUALIZED, BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE CHILD AND HIS/HER FAMILY. IN GENERAL, THEY WORK TO BREAK THE LONELINESS, ISOLATION AND HOPELESSNESS THAT OFTEN GRIP THESE FAMILIES. THEY TEACH SKILLS, EITHER DIRECTLY OR THROUGH MODELING. THEY IDENTIFY RESOURCES AND ASSIST THE FAMILY IN ACCESSING AND USING THOSE RESOURCES. THEY USE RELATIONSHIPS THEY'VE DEVELOPED TO HELP THE FAMILY GET THEIR NEEDS MET.
