RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC VICTORIAN LANDMARK FOR THE PURPOSE OF EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE LOCAL HISTORY OF HEARTHSTONE.

IN 2021, HEARTHSTONE PROVIDED INNOVATIVE, EDUCATIONAL PROGAMMING FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS INCLUDING TOURS OF THE MUSEUM FOCUSING ON ITS ELECTRICAL HISTORY, PROGRAMMING FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH, ON-SITE AND VIRTUAL TOURS FOR GRADE SCHOOL STUDENTS, INVENTION CONVENTION PROGRAMMING FOR K-12 STUDENTS ACROSS NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN, HAUNTED TOURS AND EVENTS, AND VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS TOURS AND EVENTS. IN ADDITION, THE MUSEUM FEATURED PERMANENT EXHIBITS ON INVENTOR LEWIS LATIMER, ON VICTORIAN LAUNDRY PRACTICES, AND ON EACH OF THE FAMILIES THAT LIVED IN THE RESIDENCE PRIOR TO IT BECOMING A MUSEUM.ATTENDANCE REBOUNDED FROM 2020 WITH OVER 4900 GUESTS TOURING THE MUSEUM OR ATTENDING EVENTS. IN ADDITION, HEARTHSTONE HOSTED 800 STUDENTS VIRTUALLY FROM ACROSS THE STATE.AT THE SAME TIME, THE MUSEUM COMPLETED THE FINAL PHASE OF ITS THREE YEAR, TOP-TO-BOTTOM EXTERIOR RESTORATION OF THE RESIDENCE. ALL WORK WAS EXECUTED TO DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR / NATIONAL PARK SERVICE STANDARDS. THE RESTORATION PROJECT WAS COMPLETED ON-TIME AND $40,000 UNDER BUDGET.
