KINDSHIP OF POLK COUNTY WORKS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF A CHILD'S LIFE BY ESTABLISHING A RELATIONSHIP WITH A CARING MENTOR FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROMOTING STABILITY, SUPPORT, FRIENDSHIP AND COMMUNITY.

KINSHIP MANAGED A TOTAL OF 331 MATCHES, SERVING A TOTAL OF 306 CHILDREN. SOME YOUTH IN KINSHIP PARTICIPATED IN BOTH SCHOOL-BASED AND COMMUNITY-BASED MENTORING. KINSHIP RECRUITED AND TRAINED 7 NEW COMMUNITY- BASED MENTORS AND 17 NEW SCHOOL-BASED MENTORS. KINSHIP MENTORS WERE BOTH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND ADULTS WHO CONTRIBUTED A COMBINED TOTAL OF 6,102 VOLUNTEER HOURS TO MENTORING YOUTH IN POLK COUNTY, WISCONSIN. DURING 2020, KINSHIP MENTORS ADJUSTED TO VIRTUAL MENTORING TO ACCOMMODATE FOR THE CURRENT HEALTH CRISIS. KINSHIP STAFF INCREASED CONTACT WITH MENTORS AND YOUTH TO BETTER SUPPORT MATCHES AND MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH THE COVID-19 STAY-AT-HOME ORDERS.
