THE WORK READINESS AND REFERRAL PROGRAM IS FUNDED BY TWO SOURCES. THE FIRST IS THE INDIAN AND NATIVE AMERICAN EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING PROGRAM WHICH IS A FEDERALLY FUNDED PROGRAM UNDER THE WORKFOCE INVESTMENT ACT (WIA). THIS PROGRAM SERVES THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUAL INDIANS, ALASKAN NATIVES, AND NATIVE HAWAIIANS WHO ARE SEEKING ENTRY INTO THE WORKFORCE OR CAREER ADVANCEMENT. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES AND ACCESS TO VOCATIONAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES DESIGNED TO ENHANCE AND ENCOURAGE SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND SELF-DETERMINATION. IN ADDITION, THE PROGRAM SUPPORTS AN ON-SITE ADULT BASIC EDUCATION TUTORIAL SERVICE. THE SECOND FUNDING SOURCE IS A PRIVATE FOUNDATION. THEY HELPED WITH THE SUPPORTIVE SERVICES PORTION OF THE PROGRAM.
