THE WINE COUNTRY MARINES ARE A PATRIOTIC ORGANIZATION OF MARINES AND FRIENDS OF THE CORPS DEDICATED TO PERPETUATING BOTH THE ETHOS AND ESPIRIT OF THE CORPS OF THE U.S.MARINE CORPS, AND TO CARRY ON THE CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS GOAL AS ALLOWED BY LAW.

VETERAN ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION MADE GRANTS OF $54,819 TO VARIOUS VETERANS IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO THE WIFE OF A MARINE WHO PASSED AWAY ON CHRISTMAS EVE FROM COVID 19 COMPLICATIONS. HE ALSO LEFT BEHIND HIS 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. OUR ASSISTANCE HELPED TO OFFSET THE LOSS OF HER HUSBAND'S SALARY AND EASE HER FINANCIAL BURDENS. PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO AN ACTIVE DUTY MARINE CORPORAL WHO'S NEWBORN BABY NEEDED HEART SURGERY. PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO AN ACTIVE DUTY MARINE LCPL WHO'S MOTHER WAS BADLY INJURED IN A CAR ACCIDENT, THE MARINE'S BASIC PAY WAS NOT ENOUGH TO COVER HIS RENT WHILE HE WAS TEMPORARILY LOCATED CLOSER TO HIS MOTHER TO CARE FOR HER WHILE HE HELPED HER DURING HER RECOVERY PROCESS. A MARINE VETERAN AND A PARALYMPIAN ROWER DIED ON A SOLO PACIFIC VOYAGE. WCM PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HER WIFE SO SHE WAS ABLE TO BRING HER BODY BACK FROM SEA AND PROVIDE HER WITH A PROPER BURIAL. PURCHASED HOUSEHOLD GOODS FOR AN ACTIVE DUTY MARINE WHO'S UHAUL WAS STOLEN AS HE AND HIS FAMILY WERE EN ROUTE TO HIS NEW DUTY STATION. PURCHASED TOYS FOR AN ACTIVE DUTY SAILOR WHO WAS LEFT IN A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP WHEN HER SPOUSE LEFT HER AND HER 4 CHILDREN AT CHRISTMAS TIME. PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO AN ACTIVE DUTY SAILOR WHO'S CHILD WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BRAIN CANCER.
THE ORGANIZATION HOLDS AN ANNUAL MARINE CORP BIRTHDAY BALL FOR ITS MEMBERS. DUE TO COVID, THE BALL SCHEDULED FOR 2020 WAS CANCELLED.
WINE COUNTRY MARINES DEVELOPED A THE VETERANS IN CRISIS TRAINING PROGRAM THAT IS NOW A NATIONAL PROGRAM THAT IS TAUGHT TO LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AROUND THE COUNTRY ON HOW TO DEESCALATE A SITUATION WHEN THEY COME IN CONTACT WITH A VETERAN WHO HAS SEVERE PTSD. THIS PROGRAM SAVES VETERAN LIVES AND EDUCATES LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS ON HOW TO RECOGNIZE THE SIGNS OF PTSD.
