THE PURPOSE OF THE CHAPTER SHALL BE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE PREVENTION OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES AND TO ENSURE OPTIMAL QUALITY OF CARE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH SUCH DISEASES. IN CARRYING OUT THESE PURPOSES, THE CHAPTER SHALL FUNCTION, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE LEADERSHIP OF THE COLLEGE, AS A SOURCE OF ADVICE TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL AND PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND PROMOTE PROFESSIONAL EDUCATIONAL ISSUES RELATED TO CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE. THE CHAPTER SHALL, IN THE INTEREST OF PATIENTS, PHYSICIANS, AND THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL, MAINTAIN A HIGH LEVEL OF SOCIAL CONCIOUSNESS AND INVOLVEMENT WITH SOCIOECONOMIC FACTORS AND ACCESS TO THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE QUALITY OF CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH CARE.

THE CHAPTER CONTINUES TO PARTNER WITH THE MICHIGAN HEART ASSOCIATION TO ADVOCATE FOR POLICY THAT PROVIDES A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT FOR MICHIGAN'S CITIZENS INCLUDING ECIG REGULATIONS, FUNDING FOR CHRONIC DISEASE PREVENTION PROGRAMS, AND APPROPRIATE QUALITY CRITERIA FOR THE STATE'S CERTIFICATE OF NEED STANDARDS. THE CHAPTER PARTNERED WITH THE MICHIGAN STATE MEDICAL SOCIETY TO ADVOCATE FOR LEGISLATION TO RELIEVE THE BURDENS OF PRIOR AUTHORIZATION FOR PATIENTS AND PHYSICIANS.


THE CHAPTER'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE COMBINES LECTURES, PANEL DISCUSSIONS AND DEBATES TO CONVEY THE LATEST INFORMATION IN THE FIELD OF CARDIOLOGY. CARDIOLOGY FELLOWS-IN-TRAINING CONDUCT POSTER AND CASE COMPETITION TO PRESENT THE LATEST IN CARDIOVASCULAR RESEARCH. ATTENDEES INCLUDE CARDIOLOGISTS, CARDIOVASCULAR NURSES, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS, AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE CARDIAC CARE TEAM.


THE CHAPTER HOSTS AN ANNUAL CARDIOVASCULAR TEAM SYMPOSIUM. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES CLINICAL UPDATES OF INTEREST TO THOSE WHO CARE FOR PATIENTS WITH CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES. ATTENDEES INCLUDE NURSES, NURSE PRACTITIONERS, PHARMACISTS, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS AND CARDIOLOGISTS.
