ATHENA INTERNATIONAL IS A NONPARTISAN, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO BUILDING A GLOBAL PIPELINE OF WOMEN LEADERS FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE BOARDROOM WHO WILL CREATE A BALANCE IN THE VOICES OF LEADERSHIP WORLDWIDE. FOUNDED IN 1982 BY MARTHA MAYHOOD MERTZ, ATHENA INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPS, SUPPORTS AND HONORS WOMEN AND GIRLS THROUGH PROGRAMS BASED ON THE EIGHT PRINCIPLES OF THE ATHENA LEADERSHIP MODEL (ALM), DEVELOPED WITH THE CENTER FOR CREATIVE LEADERSHIP THROUGH RESEARCH FUNDED BY THE W.K. KELLOGG FOUNDATION. BECOMING ATHENA LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT DELIVERS QUANTIFIABLE OUTCOMES FOR WOMEN IN MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, CORPORATIONS, PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND PRISONS. ATHENA POWERLINK ADVISORY BOARDS SUPPORT ENTREPRENEURS TO GROW THEIR BUSINESSES AND IMPACT THE ECONOMY. OUTSTANDING LEADERS ARE HONORED WITH GLOBAL, NATIONAL AND REGIONAL ATHENA LEADERSHIP AWARDS.
