GREATER LANSING FOOD BANK'S CORE PROGRAM IS THE LARGE-SCALE WAREHOUSING AND DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD FOR THOSE IN NEED WHICH IS DONE THROUGH A VARIETY OF METHODS INCLUDING MOBILE DISTRIBUTIONS, EMERGENCY FOOD KITS, A 140+ MEMBER AGENCY NETWORK AND OTHER NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY PARTNERS. 9,918,691 POUNDS OF FOOD WERE DISTRIBUTED DURING THE FISCAL YEAR THROUGHOUT A SEVEN-COUNTY SERVICE AREA IN MID-MICHIGAN.
GREATER LANSING FOOD BANK ASSISTS OTHER PARTNER AGENCIES IN THE MID-MICHIGAN AREA WHICH PROVIDE FOOD ASSISTANCE TO THOSE IN NEED.
THE GARDEN PROJECT - THIS PROGRAM OFFERS RESOURCE SUPPORT TO GROW AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES RELATING TO GROWING TECHNIQUES, BUSINESS PLANNING AND MARKETING FOR LIMITED RESOURCE OR SOCIALLY DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUALS. TOOLS, WATER, ACCESS TO LAND AND LAND PREP, SUPPORT, SEEDS AND TRAINING ARE PROVIDED BY THE FOOD BANK. 2,189 HOUSEHOLDS WERE SERVED AT 104 COMMUNITY GARDEN SITES.
