MIDLAND'S OPEN DOOR (MOD) OPERATES TWO CRISIS SHELTERS, ONE FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN AND ONE FOR MEN. MOD'S PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO MEET THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS OF HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS BY PROVIDING A SAFE AND LOVING ENVIRONMENT WHERE EACH PERSON WILL HAVE THE SPACE, TIME AND RESOURCES NEEDED TO MOVE TOWARDS STABILITY AND INDEPENDENCE. IN ADDITION, MOD ALSO FACILITATES COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS THROUGH OUR SOUP KITCHEN AND CLOTHING MINISTRY.

SOUP KITCHEN MIDLAND'S OPEN DOOR OPERATES A COMMUNITY SOUP KITCHEN FROM 12:00 PM TO 1:30 PM, MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. THE SOUP KITCHEN PROVIDES A HOT WHOLESOME MEAL FOR OUR SHELTER GUESTS AND IS ALSO OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. IN ADDITION TO THE NOON MEAL, SOUP AND SANDWICHES ARE AVAILABLE FOR TAKEOUT FOR THE GUESTS EVENING MEAL. THERE ARE NO FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR SOMEONE TO BENEFIT FROM THE SOUP KITCHEN MEALS AND ALL MEALS ARE PROVIDED AT NO COST TO OUR GUESTS.
SHELTER MINISTRY MIDLAND'S OPEN DOOR PROVIDES TWO SHELTERS, ONE FOR MEN AND ONE FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN. OUR MEN'S SHELTER PROVIDES 19 BEDS, WITH THE CAPACITY FOR 23, AND OUR WOMEN AND CHILDREN'S SHELTER PROVIDES 17 BEDS, WITH THE CAPACITY FOR 21. EACH GUEST IS ASSISTED WITH FOOD, SHELTER AND CLOTHING AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN BIBLE STUDIES AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT CLASSES. GUESTS PARTICIPATE IN WEEKLY CASE MANAGEMENT TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND COORDINATION WITH LOCAL SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES, OTHER CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES AND LOCAL CHURCHES WITH THE GOAL TO MOVE TOWARD LONG-TERM STABILITY. THE GUESTS EACH HAVE ACCESS TO A TELEPHONE, A COMPUTER WITH INTERNET CAPABILITIES FOR JOB SEARCHING, AND TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR MEDICAL CO-PAYS, PRESCRIPTIONS, VEHICLE MAINTENANCE, AND EMPLOYMENT NEEDS (E.G. UNIFORMS OR TOOLS) IS ALSO AVAILABLE BASED ON NEED AND AVAILABILITY OF FUNDING.
CLOTHING SHED MIDLAND'S OPEN DOOR OPERATES A CLOTHING MINISTRY TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY CLOTHING ASSISTANCE FOR MEN AND WOMEN. CLOTHING IS AVAILABLE FOR SHELTER GUESTS 24 HOURS A DAY, 365 DAYS A YEAR AND TO THE PUBLIC FOR EMERGENCY NEEDS, BY REFERRAL. IN ADDITION, MOD OPERATES A MONTHLY CLOTHING GIVEAWAY FOR THE COMMUNITY ON THE FIRST SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH. THERE ARE NO FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE MONTHLY CLOTHING GIVEAWAY.
