THE SOCIETY'S MISSION IS TO ENSURE RESPONSIBLE TREATMENT OF ANIMALS, TO DECREASE THE NUMBER OF ABUSED AND UNWANTED ANIMALS, AND TO CONDUCT COMMUNITY PROGRAMS WHICH PROMOTE QUALITY ANIMAL CARE.

CASCADES HUMANE SOCIETY ("CHS")ADOPTED MORE THAT 1,500 ANIMALS INTO THEIR FOREVER HOMES IN THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2021. IN ADDITION TO ADOPTIONS, CHS PROVIDES THE COMMUNITY WITH UNIQUE SERVICES. OUR LOW COST SPAY AND NEUTER SERVICES (SNAP) FOR OWNED ANIMALS MEANS PETS ARE BEING STERILIZED THAT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN OTHERWISE. THIS NOT ONLY PREVENTS UNWANTED LITTERS OF PUPPIES AND KITTENS, BUT IT ALSO KEEPS THE OWNED ANIMAL HEALTHIER AND HAPPIER. NEW THIS YEAR WE OFFERED SERVICES AT THE TIME OF SURGERY SUCH AS VACCINES, MICROCHIPS, AND DISEASE TESTS. THE FORGOTTEN FELINE PROGRAM (A TNR PROGRAM) ASSISTS KIND-HEARTED PEOPLE CARE FOR THE FREE- ROAMING OR FERAL CATS. WE WILL SPAY AND NEUTER THE CATS AND GIVE EACH A RABIES VACCINE. LASTLY, WE ARE PROUD TO OFFER A PET FOOD PANTRY THAT FEEDS THE PETS OF FAMILIES WHO ARE GOING THROUGH FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS, DISTRIBUTING MORE THAN 10,000 POUNDS OF FOOD THIS YEAR. THIS KEEPS PETS IN THEIR HOMES WHERE THEY BELONG BECAUSE A FAMILY DOES NOT NEED TO MAKE A DIFFICULT DECISION BETWEEN FEEDING THEIR PET AND PAYING THEIR BILLS. DURING THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2021, CHS SPAYED OR NEUTERED MORE THAN 880 OWNED ANIMALS AND NEARLY 400 CATS THROUGH OUR FORGOTTEN FELINE PROGRAM. IN ADDITION, CHS SPAYED OR NEUTERED NEARLY 1,000 ANIMALS PRIOR TO ADOPTION.


THE SNAP PROGRAM (SPAY AND NEUTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM)IS DESIGNED TO HELP REDUCE THE POPULATION OF UNWANTED ANIMALS IN JACKSON COUNTY. THIS PROGRAM IS SET UP AS A LOW COST ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR JACKSON COUNTY RESIDENTS WHO WANT TO BRING CATS AND DOGS OF ALL SIZES AND GENDER TO HELP CONTROL THE PET POPULATION. IN THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2021, CHS SPAYED OR NEUTERED MORE THAN 880 OWNED PETS. WE ALSO OFFERED NEW SERVICES AT THE TIME OF SURGERY, INCLUDING VACCINES, TESTS, AND MICROCHIPS.


THE PET FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM IS SET UP TO PROVIDE PET FOOD TO JACKSON COUNTY RESIDENTS WHO ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY MEETING THE NUTRITIONAL NEEDS OF THEIR CAT OR DOG DUE TO A CURRENT FINANCIAL BURDEN. FOR ANY JACKSON COUNTY RESIDENT TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM, THEY MUST QUALIFY AS LOW INCOME, BE A CURRENT PARTICIPANT IN A STATE/FEDERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, OR BE EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL HARDSHIP DUE TO THEIR CURRENT ECONOMIC SITUATION. THIS PROGRAM EXISTS ON DONATIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY, AND THE PET FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM IS INTENDED TO SUPPLEMENT AN ELIGIBLE RESIDENT'S MONTHLY SUPPLY OF PET FOOD, AND NOT A SOLE SOURCE OF THEIR PET'S NUTRITIONAL NEEDS. IN THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2021, CHS DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 10,000 POUNDS OF CAT AND DOG FOOD TO THE JACKSON COMMUNITY.
