THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF JEWISH WOMEN, MICHIGAN, INC. (NCJW) IS DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THE LIVES OF WOMEN, CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. MEMBERS IDENTIFY LOCAL CHALLENGES, DEVELOP RESPONSES, AND PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO THOSE IN NEED.

KOSHER MEALS ON WHEELS KMOW PROVIDED MEALS MONDAY-FRIDAY TO 172 HOMEBOUND OLDER ADULTS. 44,607 MEALS (LUNCHES AND DINNERS) WERE DELIVERED BY VOLUNTEERS DURING FYE 22. PARTICIPANTS COULD ORDER UP TO 5 LUNCHES AND 5 DINNERS PER WEEK.
BACK 2 SCHOOL STORE DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, INSTEAD OF OFFERING A ONE DAY SHOPPING OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS, CLOTHING, A FEW SCHOOL SUPPLIES, AND A BOOK, WERE GIVEN TO AGENCIES IN WHICH WE PARTNER, TO DISTRIBUTE TO 900 CHILDREN IN NEED.
ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS NCJW MICHIGAN PROVIDES ADVOCACY AT THE LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL LEVELS ALONG WITH TWENTY COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS MEETING THE NEEDS OF WOMEN, CHILDREN, AND FAMILIES INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS: CHILDREN'S ADVOCATES FOR COURT APPOINTED GUARDIANS, PROVIDING BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN IN OAKLAND COUNTY, TUTORING AND READING TO CHILDREN AT COLEMAN A. YOUNG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN DETROIT.
