THROUGH ITS ACADEMY PROGRAM, PEORIA BALLET COMPANY OFFERS NUMEROUS CLASSES EACH WEEK TO STUDENTS RANGING IN AGE FROM THREE TO ADULT. STUDENTS ARE TRAINED IN A NUMBER OF DANCE STYLES INCLUDING BALLET, CONTEMPORARY, JAZZ, MODERN, AND TAP. IN A TYPICAL YEAR, THE ACADEMY SERVES APPROXIMATELY 175 STUDENTS, BUT DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS DROPPED TO APPROXIMATELY 125.
PEORIA BALLET COMPANY PERFORMS TWO PROFESSIONAL LEVEL BALLET PRODUCTIONS ANNUALLY AND A RECITAL AT THE END OF EACH SCHOOL YEAR. TICKET PRICES FOR THESE PRODUCTIONS ARE KEPT LOW, WITH THE GOAL OF PROVIDING AN AFFORDABLE THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE. IN ADDITION TO THE PUBLIC PERFORMANCES, IN THEATER OUTREACH PERFORMANCES ARE PRESENTED TO PROVIDE FREE OR LOW COST EXPERIENCES FOR LOCAL STUDENTS, ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES, AND NURSING HOME/SENIOR LIVING CENTER RESIDENTS WHO WOULD OTHERWISE BE UNABLE TO ATTEND. IN A TYPICAL YEAR, THESE PRODUCTIONS REACH OVER 6,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS. DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE PRODUCTIONS WERE PERFORMED VIRTUALLY THIS YEAR.
