BELLTOWER'S ROLE IS TO BE CATALYTIC AND COLLABORATIVE IN HELPING TO CREATE (CONT'D ON SCH O) BETTER OPTIONS FOR NEW ORLEANS PUBLIC SCHOOL GRADUATES. IT WILL PROVIDE RESEARCH AND LEADERSHIP TO EXPEDITE IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW PROGRAMS AND OPTIONS FOR THESE STUDENTS. AS NEEDED, IT WILL PROVIDE PLANNING AND STARTUP GRANTS TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO FACILITATE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT OR CHOOSE TO OPERATE A PROGRAM DIRECTLY.

THE PROMISE PROGRAM:THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUPPORT TO PELL ELIGIBLE NOLA HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES ATTENDING UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA AT LAFAYETTE AND UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS. THE ULL PARTNERSHIP CONTINUES TO GROW AND IMPROVE WITH EACH COHORT (STUDENTS ENROLLING AS FRESHMAN). BELLTOWER HAD 134 STUDENTS ENROLLED IN UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA AT LAFAYETTE DURING 2022. WE CELBRATED OUR FIRST GRADUATES, AND CONTINUE TO DEMONSTRATE A STRONG PERSISTENCY RATE. THE ORGANIZATION'S INITIAL EFFORTS WITH UNO WERE DISRUPTED BY COVID-19. AS A RESULT, THE ORGANIZATION SPENT 2021 REVAMPING THE PROGRAM AND LAUNCHED STARTSMART AT UNO IN THE FALL OF 2022 WITH 58 PELL ELIGIBLE FRESHMAN.
THE GATEWAY COLLABORATIVE:BELLTOWER CONTINUED MARKETING ITS PROGRAMS TO HIGH SCHOOL GUIDANCE COUNSELORS. THE VARIOUS PROGRAMS SUPPORTED BY BELLTOWER (PROMISE PROGRAMS AT UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA AT LAFAYETTE AND UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS) AND THE GATEWAY COLLABORATIVE PROGRAMS (TRELLIS AT TULANE UNIVERSITY, LAUNCH, AND NEXT LEVEL NOLA) ASSISSTED/ENROLLED OVER 250 STUDENTS IN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION. BELLTOWER GAVE CORPORATE INTERNSHIP LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE A $65,000 GRANT TO WORK WITH BELLTOWER'S ULL PROMISE STUDENTS FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR 2022-23 TO HELP PREPARE STUDENTS FOR LIFE POST COLLEGE GRADUATION. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED CAREER COACHING TO FALL 2022 AND SPRING 2023 GRADUATES. THE CAREER COACHING PROGRAM OFFERED 6 COLLEGE TO (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O) CAREER SESSIONS AT ULL (3 IN FALL 2022 AND 3 IN SPRING 2023) OPEN TO ALL PROMISE STUDENTS AND ALSO PLACED 15 STUDENTS IN PAID SUMMER INTERNSHIPS. BELLTOWER GRANTED $135,000 TO UNO FOR THE STARTSMART PROGRAM AT UNO, WHICH BEGAN IN AUGUST 2022 WITH THE FIRST COHORT. BELLTOWER GRANTED $22,000 TO YOUTHFORCE NOLA TO HELP OFFSET THE COST OF STIPENDS FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING EXTENSION ACADEMY (LAUNCH AND NEXT LEVEL NOLA), AS PART OF GATEWAY COLLABORATIVE, AND FOR ULL STUDENTS.
