AMA OLUKAI FOUNDATION CREATED A FOUNDATION VILLAGE AT THEEVENT TO HONOR BENEFICIARIES FOR THEIR OUTSTANDINGCONTRIBUTIONS TOWARDS CULTURAL PRESERVATION IN HAWAII AND TOFURTHER EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT HAWAIIAN CULTURE ANDCOMMUNITY. EVENTS INCLUDE EDUCATIONAL EVENTS RELATING TO THEART OF CELESTIAL NAVIGATION AND THE HOKULE'A VOYAGE, AND THEIMPORTANCE OF PRESERVING HAWAIIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE IN THEHONOKAWAI VALLEY OF MAUI. THE FOUNDATION ALSO PARTICIPATESIN GIVEBACK DAY TO PROMOTE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OF HAWAIIAN TRADITIONS AS A SIGN OF RESPECT, THROUGH EVENTS SUCH AS THE TARO PATCH AND WETLANDS RESTORATIONS.
