OUR MISSION IS TO TRANSITION OLDER ADULTS IN OUR REGION FROM VULNERABLE TO VIBRANT SO THAT EVERY SENIOR IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY HAS THE RESOURCES TO THRIVE. THROUGH THE POWER OF PHILANTHROPY AND PARTNERSHIPS, WE ARE WORKING TO ENSURE THAT EVERY SAN DIEGO SENIOR HAS SOMEONE THEY CAN TURN TO AND TRUST.

SDSCF CONTINUES TO MOVE THE NEEDLE ON ENSURING THAT EVERY SENIOR IN SAN DIEGO HAS SOMEONE THEY CAN TURN TO AND TRUST. IN FY21/22, THE FOUNDATION BUILT ON THE SUCCESS OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR THROUGH MULTIPLE PROGRAM AND STRATEGIC ADVOCACY INITIATIVES. OUR GRANTMAKING PROVIDED CRITICAL SUPPORT TO OVER 25 SENIOR CENTERS AND AGING SERVICES NONPROFITS. THE SDSCF-LED SAN DIEGO SENIOR CENTER COALITION CONTINUES TO CONVENE DIRECTORS IN THE BUILDING-OUT OF A COUNTY-WIDE COALITION TO ADVOCATE FOR IMPROVED SENIOR SERVICES INFRASTRUCTURE. SDSCF LAUNCHED A WELLNESS SERVICES NAVIGATOR PROJECT TO DEMONSTRATE THE IMPACT OF ENHANCED SOCIAL SERVICES AND HEALTH CARE NAVIGATION IN A TRADITIONAL SENIOR CENTER SETTING. SDSCF IS PROMOTING AND IMPLEMENTING THE SAN DIEGO MASTER PLAN FOR SENIOR CENTERS, A COUNTY-WIDE FRAMEWORK THAT PROVIDES AN INNOVATIVE VISION TO BUILD A SOPHISTICATED NETWORK OF SENIOR CENTERS THAT WILL BE POSITIONED TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF GROWING AND MORE DIVERSE SENIOR POPULATION. WE HAVE HAD MEETINGS WITH OVER A DOZEN ELECTED OFFICIALS AND GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS AND PLAN ON COORDINATING MANY MORE TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF BRINGING OUR VISION TO THE PUBLIC SQUARE. SDSCF COMPLETED A NOVEL ASSESSMENT OF A CITY'S SENIOR SERVICE SUPPORT INFRASTRUCTURE INCLUDING DEMOGRAPHIC DATA AND RESOURCE RESEARCH, AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FURTHER ACTION. TWO MORE OF THESE ASSESSMENTS ARE IN THE BEGINNING STAGES AND SDSCF'S GOAL IS TO PROVIDE THESE LOCALIZED ENVIRONMENTAL SCANS FOR EVERY COMMUNITY IN SAN DIEGO.
