THE FEDERATION WORKS WITH FARMERS, CONSUMERS AND COMMUNITIES TO MAKE WHOLESOME, LOCALLY-GROWN FOODS AVAILABLE TO ALL RESIDENTS, TO EDUCATE CONSUMERS ABOUT FOOD RESOURCES AND TO SUPPORT FARM VIABILITY.

CHARITABLE - MFFM'S CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES FOCUS ON REDUCING THE BARRIERS TO LOCAL FOOD FOR LOW-INCOME MAINERS, CONNECTING COMMUNITIES WITH FARMERS' MARKETS TO PROMOTE HEALTHY EATING, AND ADDRESSING FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROBLEMS BY WORKING TO INCREASE FARMERS' MARKET PRODUCE CAPACITY IN RURAL AREAS.
EDUCATIONAL - MFFM EDUCATES THE PUBLIC REGARDING THE BENEFITS OF EATING HEALTHY FOOD, WHERE TO FIND IT, HOW TO ACCESS IT AFFORDABLY, AND HOW TO PREPARE IT, AS WELL AS THE IMPORTANCE OF LOCAL AGRICULTURE TO MAINE'S FOOD SYSTEM AND ECOLOGY.
