THE CHILDRENS MUSEUM OF OAK PARK D/B/A WONDER WORKS (THE MUSEUM) IS AN ILLINOIS NOT-FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION UNDER THE GENERAL NOT-FOR-PROFIT-CORPORATION ACT OF ILLINOIS. THE MUSEUM WAS FOUNDED IN 1991.THE MUSEUM WAS ESTABLISHED TO OPERATE AS A CHILDRENS MUSEUM SERVING OAK PARK, ILLINOIS AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. IN ADDITION TO OPERATING A MUSEUM FOR CHILDREN, THE MUSEUM HOSTS SPECIAL PROGRAMMING, OUTREACH INITIATIVES, AND ACTIVITIES THAT PROVIDE POSITIVE PLAY-BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT FOLLOW THE STATE'S EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS.

THE MUSEUM HELPS KIDS, THEIR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS UNLEASH THEIR IMAGINATIONS THROUGH ART, PERFORMANCE, DESIGN, BUILDING AND MORE.WITH SEVEN EXPERIENCE ZONES, INCLUDING AN OUTDOOR GARDEN AND NATURE PLAY EXPERIENCE, WONDER WORKS GIVES KIDS PLENTY TO EXPLORE. IN NORTH AVENUE ART WORKS, KIDS EXPERIENCE THE ARTISTIC PROCESS. IN FARM TO MARKET, CHILDREN "HARVEST" FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, TRANSPORT THEM AND SET UP A SHOP TO SELL OR BARTER; FARM TO MARKET ALSO HOUSES FOUR IMAGINARY PLAY AREAS, INCLUDING A STORE, VETERINARY CLINIC, FIRE STATION, AND A LIBRARY.
