CHILDRENS LEARNING CENTER IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT EARLY EDUCATION AND CHILD CARE CENTER.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
PROVIDING SUBSIDIZED CHILD CARE SERVICES TO LOW AND MODERATE INCOME FAMILIES. THE CENTER OFFERS EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS FOR INFANTS, TODDLERS, PRESCHOOL GROUPS, BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, AND SCHOOL HOLIDAY AND SUMMER CARE PROGRAMS. IN THE 2021-2022 YEAR, 25 CHILDREN WERE IN THE INFANT/TODDLER GROUP, 43 ATTENDED PRESCHOOL, 44 CHILDREN ATTENDED BEFORE/AFTER CARE AND SCHOOL HOLIDAY AND SUMMER CARE PROGRAMS. ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE ONGOING. THE ONGOING CRISIS OF HIRING AND RETAINING QUALIFIED TEACHERS IS CATASTROPHIC. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HIRE QUALIFIED TEACHING STAFF. THIS CONTINUES TO PARALYZE CLC'S ABILITY TO RETURN TO FULL ENROLLMENT. SURVIVING COVID GUIDELINES, VACCINATIONS, AND PANDEMIC PROTOCOLS CONTINUES TO CHALLENGE EVERYONE EVERY DAY. CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER REMAINS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY EARLY EDUCATION AND CHILD CARE. THE TEACHER SHORTAGE MAKES THIS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. HOWEVER, THE STAFF REMAIN AT THE TOP OF THEIR PROFESSIONALISM.CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER CONTINUES TO BE A GOLD CIRCLE OF QUALITY FROM THE EXCELERATE ILLINOIS PROGRAM. THIS DEMONSTRATES THE ONGOING EFFORTS TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FOR THE FAMILIES.CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER RENEWED ITS ACCREDITATION THROUGH EARLY LEARNING LEADERS NATIONAL ACCREDITATION COMMISSION. ENTRY INTO THE CENTER CONTINUES TO BE LIMITED TO CHILDREN AND STAFF AND OCCASIONAL VISITORS. ACCESS FOR TECHNICIANS, SUPPORT PERSONNEL, AND NECESSARY VOLUNTEERS IS MONITORED VERY CLOSELY. THE CENTER CONTINUES TO OPERATE UNDER MODIFIED COVID PROCEDURES AND PROTOCOLS. MASKING IS OPTIONAL UNLESS THERE IS A COVID POSITIVE. STAFF AND FAMILIES VERIFY "NO COVID ACTIVITY"" UPON SIGNING IN EACH MORNING. THE CENTER CONTINUES TO USE THE PROCARE APP TO ALLOW FOR EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WITH FAMILIES. ZOOM IS USED FOR MEETINGS WITH FAMILIES, STAFF, AND THE BOARD MEETINGS ARE CONDUCTED VIA ZOOM.
