SANDY SPRING ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION ("SSAA") IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO PROMOTE, SUPERVISE, AND VOLUNTARILY ASSIST IN PROVIDING A SAFE AND SECURE RECREATIONAL ATHLETIC ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE GREATER OLNEY-SANDY SPRING MARYLAND REGION. THROUGH PROPER GUIDANCE AND EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP, SSAA CONTINUES TO PROMOTE YOUTH PROGRAMS THAT EMPHASIZE PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT, BUILD SELF-ESTEEM AND CULTIVATE A LIFELONG INTEREST IN SPORTS, HEALTH AND TEAMWORK BY ESPOUSING THE VIRTUES AND CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, AND SPORTSMANSHIP. TRAVEL BASEBALL - SANDY SPRING ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION ("SSAA") OFFERS A TRAVEL BASEBALL PROGRAM THAT SERVICES APPROXIMATELY 150 YOUTH BOYS AND GIRLS IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD AND SURROUNDING AREAS. THE SSAA TRAVEL BASEBALL PROGRAM EXPERIENCED GROWTH WITHIN ITS PROGRAM IN 2023 WITH THE ADDITION OF THREE NEW TEAMS. AS A RESULT, SSAA WAS ABLE TO GENERATE HIGHER THAN ANTICIPATED REGISTRATION FEES AND LEAGUE FEES, WHICH WERE OFFSET BY HIGHER THAN ANTICIPATED TEAM EXPENSES. IN ADDITION, SSAA HOSTED TWO BASEBALL TOURNAMENTS IN 2023 AT VARIOUS FIELDS IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD. THE TOURNAMENTS INVOLVED NUMEROUS TRAVEL BASEBALL TEAMS, WHICH RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT TOURNAMENT-RELATED REVENUES AND EXPENSES IN 2023.
TRAVEL SOFTBALL - SANDY SPRING ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION ("SSAA") OFFERS A TRAVEL SOFTBALL PROGRAM THAT SERVICES APPROXIMATELY 35 YOUTH GIRLS IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD AND SURROUNDING AREAS. THE SSAA TRAVEL SOFTBALL PROGRAM EXPERIENCED GROWTH WITHIN ITS PROGRAM IN 2023 BY ADDING TWO NEW SOFTBALL TEAMS. AS A RESULT, SSAA WAS ABLE TO GENERATE HIGHER THAN ANTICIPATED SOFTBALL REGISTRATION FEES, WHICH WERE OFFSET BY HIGHER THAN ANTICIPATED TEAM EXPENSES. LACROSSE - SANDY SPRING ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION ("SSAA") OFFERS A RECREATIONAL LACROSSE PROGRAM THAT SERVICES APPROXIMATELY 20 YOUTH BOYS AND GIRLS IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD AND SURROUNDING AREAS.
