RESIDENTIAL/DAY CAMP: COMPRISED OF THREE ONE-WEEK SUMMER CAMPS FOR YOUTH AGES 7-15 THROUGHOUT INDIANA ALONG WITH A ONE-WEEK DAY CAMP THAT RUNS SIMULATNEOUSLY FOR YOUTH AGES 5-8 YEARS OLD. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES A FULL CAMP PROGRAM THAT INVOLVES EDUCATION, ATHLETIC, AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES. A VOLUNTEER STAFF OF PHYSICIANS, NURSES, DIETICIANS, AND MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS ARE CLOSELY INVOLVED WITH THE MEDICAL MANAGEMENT OF THE CAMPERS' DIABETES. THIS RELAXED, INFORMAL, AND PEER-SUPPORTED SITUATION IS IDEAL FOR TEACHING DIABETES MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES.
TEEN CAMP WEEKENDS/ PROGRAMMING: THESE WEEKEND ADVENTURES PROVIDE TEENS A WAY TO LEARN, CONNECT, AND GAIN VALUABLE SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE TEEN AMBASSADORS PROGRAM PROVIDES A UNIQUE LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY TO TEENS WITH TYPE 1 DIABETES. THEY FOCUS ON SERVICE WITHIN DYFI AND THE COMMUNITY, DIABETES ADVOCACY, AND T1D TEEN OUTREACH.
FAMILY CAMP WEEKENDS/ COMMUNITY EVENTS: THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, THESE MINI RETREATS OFFER FAMILIES WITH YOUNGER CHILDREN AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRY OUT CAMP. FOR OLDER CHILDREN WITH DIABETES, THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS A COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM AND AN ADVENTURE TEEN PROGRAM.
